Very nice hotel. Only about a 10 minute walk to the Arc de Triomphe. Rooms on the small side but nice linen and clean. Pretty courtyard outside where one can sit and have breakfast or a drink. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the metro. Breakfast buffet very pleasant.

My husband and I stayed in the Hotel Magellan for 4 nights in May 2013. The staff was friendly although some waitresses were bossing people around when it came to choosing a table in the bar (which was mostly empty). The location is fantastic - its a few minutes away from the tube which is a very convenient way to travel in Paris.
The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style with good selection.

I stayed in two different rooms at the Hotel Magellan in June 2013 - a double room in the secondary building and a single room in the main building. Both rooms were on the smaller side by North American standards, which is not unusual for European hotels. The rooms were both otherwise clean and comfortable. I also appreciated the automated window shades which blocked out all light. The fixtures in the bathroom are a bit dated and while hairdryers are provided, they are the old style, wall-mounted style hair dryers that resemble vacuum cleaners and were not very powerful, so if this is a concern, you may want to bring your own.

I enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel, which was included with our room. Breakfast hours were also really good (I believe until 11 am on weekends and 10:30 am on weekdays). While the breakfast room was always busy, we never had to wait for table. A variety of pastries, yogurts, fruit, cold cuts and cheese were offered, but the freshly squeezed orange juice machine was especially good and adds significant value to the breakfast when you consider what the normal cost would be for a glass of juice at a cafe.

I was travelling with a friend and we were originally looking at twin rooms at other hotels, but two single rooms at Hotel Magellan ended up being around the same price as double room, if not even a little less, at similarly rated hotels, so choosing Hotel Magellan just based on price alone was an easy decision (granted the rate was an early booking, non-refundable rate).

The hotel is located in the 17eme arrondisement in a safe and quiet residential area, which is not totally central, but it is only about a 10-minute walk to the Porte Maillot Metro station, where you can get on to Line 1 which runs along the centre of Paris and is accessible to many key sites (e.g. La Defence, Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysees, Louvre). The Arc de Triomphe is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel and the Eiffel Tower was about a 45-minute walk.

Overall, Hotel Magellan is a very nice, typical Parisian boutique hotel that provides a very good value, especially if breakfast is included in the rate and I would definitely consider staying here again.

Room Tip: There is no elevator in the secondary building of the hotel, so request a room in the main building...

Everything was very french there: rooms (though a bit larger than in other "french" hotels), breakfast, garden. Very quite and comfortable hotel in the center of Paris! There were no problems with getting anywhere you wished.

This is a perfect small French hotel. We stayed 5 nights and were very well looked after. The room was small, but clean and we had both a bath and a shower and even tea and coffee making facilities.
The breakfast is absolutely fine and unless you want over cooked american bacon I don't think there is more this hotel could offer. That said the breakfast room was small and was crowded around 8am. On one day I did have to wait a while for a seat. The hotel staff were superb and one French girl who had spent time in the UK spoke unbelievably good English and was incredibly helpful. The hotel is well placed for the metro and around ten minutes walk from the Arc Du Triomphe. If you want Hyatt or Hilton style comfort and facilities stay away. If you want to sample Paris this is your hotel.

I went here in April with 3 friends to celebrate a 50th Birthday and had a great time. The hotel was on a quiet street, so I slept very well, and it was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was included in the price and, although the breakfast room is small, we found a table for 4 straight away both mornings. The only cooked food is boiled egg but that didn't worry us as there was lovely French bread and pastries plus cheese and hams etc. The coffee was lovely - not too strong as hotel's tend to be for me. The rooms are a little dated but still comfortable and the hotel is a good location close to the metro. The staff were very helpful with trying to recommend restaurants for the evening. If you find yourselves too tired to walk far in the evenings, as we did, there is a nice brasserie a 2 minute walk from the hotel - turn right and it is at the end of the road on the corner.
