We stayed here for three nights as part of an AA Getaway and were very pleased that we'd chosen it. The hotel is well situated down a typically Parisian, quiet back street and is a matter of minutes from the combined bus and Metro station at Porte de Champerret. Worth remembering to take plenty of change in coins with you for tickets as the Bus office doesn't keep any and the Metro office isn't always manned, while the machine doesn't take notes (the one at Villiers does!). A glance at the Metro map might suggest that the hotel is far from the main sights but we were standing next to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysee within about 10 minutes after strolling out of the hotel.
The hotel itself is a handsome building with bright red blinds which make it easy to spot. All the reception staff were friendly and polite. They spoke fluent English but gamely tolerated our efforts at French without appearing unduly appalled/annoyed. The hotel looked to have been refurbished recently while the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. One welcome feature was a (free) safe in the wardrobe which meant that we didn't have the usual task of thinking up 'ingenious' places to hide valuables!
The breakfast buffet was substantial - plenty of bread, sausage, juice, boiled eggs, jam etc - which meant that we didn't have to worry much about lunch.
On our departure day, the hotel staff were happy to allow us to leave our baggage in a secure area while we went off for the day to see the sights. We'd been concerned that we'd have to take our luggage to a locker at the Gare du Nord after we'd checked out or - worse - wheel it around the city all day. They also rang for a taxi. By the way, if you want to avoid an anxious journey, make sure you leave at least half an hour to get through the Parisian traffic to Gare du Nord!
All in all, I'd recommend the Magellan and would happily stay there again if we ever got the chance to visit Paris again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlook the small garden but also across to other residents' rooms.

Stayed here for two nights during our first trip to Paris. The rooms were very clean, and just the right size for two people. The bathrooms were clean, and the shower was great, with high water pressure! The bed was very comfortable as well. The breakfast was a decent continental buffet with different varieties of pastries, cereals, meats, and cheeses. The location wasn't bad, and the metro station was about a 10-15 minute walk away. Will definitely stay again!

Room Tip: 5th floor very quiet!

Just returned from a long weekend in Paris staying at Hotel Magellan - a good hotel in a nice part of the city. Staff were polite and efficient - check-in was one of the quickest we've ever experienced! Room was small but clean and comfortable; plus a good shower. Breakfast was a reasonable "continental" spread - bread, pastries, cereal, fruit, cheeses and ham - a good start to the day. And with two Metro stations within 1km (and pretty easy to wander to), you're all set for a day exploring.

I stayed here with my Mum for two nights in October and we were so pleased with this hotel. The room had everything we needed, was a good size and spotlessly clean. Everyone working at the hotel was incredibly polite, friendly and helpful plus there was a great selection of pastries, cold meats and fruits for breakfast - plus some lovely fresh orange juice. Sadly as the weather wasn't too great we didn't get to enjoy the terrace but we did have a glass of champagne every night at the little bar in the hotel.

We were very impressed with the area as well. It's only a 10-15 min stroll to the Champs Élysées and the little streets and markets near the hotel are very sweet. If you're staying, make sure you have dinner at Cafe Ba-Yen. Great food and friendly service at a very reasonable price. And only a 2 min walk from the hotel. Perfect!

Stayed here for a weekend with family on the weekend of the Prix de l'Arc. Very nice and clean hotel. Rooms modern and relatively spacious. The hotel is situated on a quiet, residential street, with a couple of nice restaurants in the neighbouring streets. It's a 15min stroll to the Arc de Triomphe. Good breakfast and staff were very friendly and helpful in booking taxis, restaurants and tours. Would recommend and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms look out onto the courtyard at the back, not the front street - if you want a a guaranteed quiet night's sleep with no traffic etc
