“Like visiting family”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

My other half and I decided to book this restaurant after reading great reviews from peers and friends. Walking in, we were instantly greeted with a warm welcome. As we're from Scotland originally, my French was only at a level taught in school, yet we were talked through the entire menu in English. The food was delicious, staff were friendly and welcoming, and I would definitely visit again. Highly recommended!

“A marvelous restaurant”
Reviewed June 24, 2014 via mobile

We had seen reviews of La Mere Michele on Trip Advisor and were encouraged to go. Also many years ago we had eaten a restaurant in the 17th by the same name, which was excellent but long gone. We were absolutely delighted by the current restaurant with this name. Mere Michele( her name if Michele and she is a mother and her daughter was helping in the restaurant) is a lovely, personable woman who speaks good english and who enthusiastically explained the entire menu to us. We had read that the foie gras is great,it is on the menu for 18 euros and we would have ordered it for both of us but she told us that one portion was enough for two which it was. It was delicious, the real deal and came with an excellent salad. For the main course we both ate Pluma Iberica which she explained to us is a cut from the pig which is not available in France, she imports it from Spain. Came with polenta infused with tomatoes, also delicious and new to us. The desserts were also wonderful We drank a Croze Hermitage for 31 euros which she recommended and it was a great wine to drink with dinner. Can't wait to go back. “Substitute restaurant worked out well”
Reviewed June 11, 2014 via mobile

Friends from Paris made reservations at another restaurant via a booking service, but at 5 p.m. They received a call from that restaurant saying they could not honor the reservation. They recommended La Mere Michele a couple of doors down the street. Since we were meeting at a the restaurant, the recommendation was accepted. The foie gras appetizer was amazing, the Pluma was enjoyed by all, and the tartare was unique and delicious. The wine selection is very limited and well priced. Our French friends said they will go back soon. The place is tiny, accommodating perhaps 14 diners. I believe our server was the owner, and she was great.

“Excellent food, excellent service!”

The owner takes pride in her restaurant and it shows! Plus, she was kind enough to translate the menu. The food was amazing!
I ordered the veal dish and it was done perfectly.

“The Banker and the Daughter”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

Wow!. This place was amazing. Madam's special foie gras was phenomenal and should not be missed. The main course was cooked to perfection. Filling in for Madam was the Banker Pierre and her Daughter. They were exceptional and made our evening a true delight. The Pluma Iberica was outstanding and the veal cooked to perfection. How the chef prepared such an outstanding meal in such a little kitchen was a thing of beauty not to be missed. This was one of the best meals my wife and I ever had and rivals some of the best restaurants we have frequented in NY and Paris. Unbelievable.

We shall return.
