Just got back from a weekend break. Was one of the lower rooms (2) on suite, very clean and decent size. Mattress felt a bit basic but I find this in most hotels.
Staff always helpful and a great position for a night at the opera and to see many of Paris's sights.
As we just used as a base it all worked well, metro Grands Boulevards just around the corner from hotel. Worth booking.

Firstly, nothing in Paris is cheap. So the price was high for what we would pay in England. But seemed comparable for Paris.

Location - Great for transport in as much as it was a few meters walk to the Grandes Boulevard metro stop. This was ideal for the Opera houses in both directions. So not far for interchanges to the other lines. There is no direct metro to the Gard Du Nord Station so we walked which was about 20 mins.

Staff - very friendly and helpful. They were happy to store our bags until the evening on the day we checked out.

Room - We were in room 2. Very clean with good shower and separate toilet. I think some rooms have to use shared toilet but ours did not. There was a shared toilet next to our room but we did not hear anyone use it. Room was functional with all the bedding and towels we needed. TV and hairdryer included. As we only used the room as a base as this was a tourist trip it was great for us. It is an old building so the floors are a bit sloped, but we found this added to the charm.

The bed was firm and not the best I have stayed in. It was clean but not the comfiest. But my husband manages a bed shop so has high standards. With all the sightseeing we fell asleep pretty quickly most nights with exhaustion.

This was just off the main drag so was nice and quiet which was a bonus.

View - was awful, wall one side and storage area other side. But as we did not come for view in hotel so this was perfect for us.

There was the smallest lift I have ever seen here also. Very cute.

Breakfast - was an optional 11Euro so we did not bother and ate at the boulangarie up the road.

FREE wifi was an added bonus. I think there was also a computer in reception for guest use.

I would go to this hotel again.

We (two ladies in late 50s) stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Vivienne in February 2013 and stayed in rooms 40 and 41. Being at the top of the hotel, they were quiet, bright and airy, each with its terrace and table and chairs. The staff and management were exceptionally warm, genuine and helpful. This set the tone for a wonderful short stay in Paris. My friend has very high standards with accommodation and she was truly delighted with this accommodation (especially as she was given the small suite, room 41!).

The immediate area is not great but the hotel's proximity to the Grands Boulevards metro means you can get to where you want easily.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Top of hotel is bright quiet and airy, with door on to small private terrace.

I stayed at the Hotel Vivienne in early December 2012. I was on a tight budget and apprehensively booked one of their rooms with the toilet "down the hall." While the toilet was down the hall (on the complete opposite end of my room in room 8), I never once had to wait to use it, and it was always clean and well-stocked. My room was very nice, spacious for where it was, with an in-room shower and sink, as well as a tiny balcony that opened off my room. I had complimentary wifi in my room (ask at the front desk for the password), and no noise complaints to speak of. The staff were occasionally laconic, but very helpful, especially with some of my "stupid American" questions. (Such as 'Where can I get a decent breakfast?' Answer: 'Hotel Vivienne...?' and 'Where can I change money?' Answer "Any number of half a dozen places literally across the street.") I had the breakfast one day, and for €11 it's not that great, but typical French fare; you're paying for the convenience of it being just downstairs.

You may consider the tiny lift a downside (it's VERY small, JUST big enough for me and my suitcase), but I was very pleased with it; every other European hotel I've stayed at required me to hall my suitcases up many flights of stairs. The tight squeeze was worth avoiding that. The hotel is situated within a block or two of the Grand Boulevard metro and within 20-30 minute walking distance of almost all of Paris. I walked to the Louvre, Opéra Garnier, Norte Dame, etc all within 20-30 mins (in the rain no less!), so the location is great. There are tons of shops and eateries within a block or two of the hotel, and there is also a Velib bike stand direction outside of the hotel doors. (It was always stocked with bikes, though I didn't use it.)

All in all an excellent little place to stay in Paris. My only complaint would be that the bed was very firm (and I like firm beds!), but every hotel I stayed at in Paris had a very firm bed, so I think this may just be a cultural thing.

We booked this delightful little hotel for 11 nights, 25 September – 6 October, 2012. It was a wonderful experience. The staff was excellent, the location was perfect, the room very clean and comfortable. We booked room 41 which featured a great little balcony, 1 double bed and 1 single bed which were separated by 1/2 wall. This was a great feature for us because it gave us each some private space. In addition to the easy walk to several Metro stations, the hotel is a relatively easy walk from L'Opera. This is the drop off and pick up place for the Roissy Bus, a great way to get to and from CDG.The staff truly made us feel like Hotel Vivienne was our, “home away from home”. This will be our hotel of choice for future Paris visits, and we will recommend it to our friends. Thank you Hotel Vivienne for making our Paris visit special.

I chose this hotel since I had business very close by. The room was surprisingly spacious. Wifi signals were strong and I was able to do all of my work. I have very little else to say as my stay pretty much consisted of just that. There was coffee available in the lobby. It's not cheap but then you are in a very central area of Paris.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for three nights in September 2012. When booking I asked for a room with a view and we were given a room on the top floor. The windows/door opened out and the view was incredible. Eifel Tower and Sacre Coure could be seen. The bathroom was huge and the only downfall was that the shower was in the bath and water seemed to get everywhere. The views however made up for it all. The room was quite spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. The Metro stops are around the corner and there are many restaurants to chose from. The staff were very friendly and spoke perfect English and were very helpful. The location is great and we walked to the Louvre, Notre Dame and to the Eifel Tower. However others may prefer to use the Metro. We enjoyed the walks. The hotel also has free wifi. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: When making a booking ask for a room either on the top floor or the floor below. The floor below ha...
