This hotel has everything you expect from a parisian hotel. Nice warm interior, helpful staff and a quiet location yet very near shopping, restaurants and metro. We had continental breakfast included with pain, croissants and cafe au lait, just like it should be in Paris. Beds are a little bit too firm for my taste, this is the only criticism I can come up with.

From the minute we arrived the service at this hotel was absolutely exceptional - truly friendly by any standards and with no cloying 'we are being friendly this because we feel with have to' vibe at all. In fact the fantastic service began before we arrived with friendly emails during booking and with the hotel booking us lunch in a nearby restaurant for the day of our arrival. Rue du Bac and the surrounding area is a fantastic place to base a relaxed trip to Paris and I have stayed nearby several times and always found the bars, cafes and shops to be excellent. To be on the same street as Patisserie Des Reve, Deyrolle and the Maeght gallery - who could ask for more! The breakfast was limited but tasty, Nespresso coffee machine, delicious croissants. The room was small but spotless and perfectly Parisian - I would definitely recommend this place to others.

We stayed at Hotel Saint Germain for our Honeymoon in September 2011. The front desk staff were very friendly (and spoke perfectly clear English). Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but they graciously locked up our bags and we strolled the neighborhood.

In about 10 minutes, we were at Luxembourg Gardens, which was simply beautiful, and the walk itself through the neighborhood was fun too-lots of shops and cafes. The hotel is also a close walk to the Montparnasse Tower, which we bought tickets for the observatory and enjoyed a glass of wine and the beautiful city views before dinner one night-a great way to see the city (just think: if you do the top of the Eiffel instead, it won't be in any of your pictures! That was our logic, and, it's much less crowded) There's also a nearby subway stop which was also quite convenient.

Anyway, when we got back to the hotel and our room was ready, we were shocked by the room -I have no other way to describe it other than it looked like what I imagine a brothel room would in India...really dark and dreary, small, tiny bed...we were not pleased to say the least.
We noticed a sign in the elevator that was allowing upgrades to the "newly renovated" rooms for not much more/night, so we opted for it. WHAT a difference! We couldn't even believe it was the same hotel.
At this point this in time my review is from an experience 1.5 years ago, so perhaps the entire hotel has now been renovated-I would hope so.

The minor complaint with the new room was it was so HOT in the room at night, and we couldn't get the air to cool down even after asking the front desk to take a look at it. Opening the window was great during the day for fresh air and street watching, but at night, to cool our room down, it was just far too noisy from all the street traffic.

Breakfast was served in a common room on the 2nd floor every morning and was tasty, convenient, and included in our stay (we booked thru Virgin Vacations). And, the staff was very friendly the entire time.

All in all it was a good hotel, and on any other trip it would've been just fine, but for our honeymoon I was hoping for something a little more special.

Room Tip: If they haven't renovated all of the rooms yet, make sure to book a renovated room!

Dear Madam,

Thank you very much for your review.
All the team was pleased to satisfy your stay in Paris and we hope to welcome you again soon.
The hotel has been completely renovated in 2012, most of the works was for the security of our guest and main time we also redecorated all our room with toile de jouy wall paper and new carpet. Also all the furniture of the room included TV & bedding has been changed.
We have the great pleasure to welcome our guest in a 17th Century private hotel, ancient bourgeois manor with wooden bean and among others things, the charm ot an authentic french parisian building therefore the surface of our room is from a minimum of 14 to a maximun of 24 square meters depends of the category. All of our room have heating and air conditionning.
Again thank you very much for sharing your experience.
Best regards

A pleasant midweek stay in a good location for exploring all points of central Paris. Friendly staff.
Trendy reception and ground floor space with vintage posters for modern films and a clean aroma of fresh diffusers! There was a feeling of freshness throughout the hotel and they have used space well, making it feel a little miniature but we only slept and ate breakfast there so it didn't matter.
Small room which got very warm quickly, despite the radiator being off and the air-con on.
Breakfast choice small but fine.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and it was absolutely lovely! Great location - nice street, walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants and many of the sights. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was perfect - beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable bed (very welcome after walking for miles round the streets of Paris!) and despite previous comments the size of the room was absolutely fine with plenty of room for hanging clothes and putting suitcases. The bathroom was perfectly fine - only negative I can think of is that the water pressure in the shower wasn't great but I'm sure that is not the hotel's fault at all! The fact that everything in the room, the bathroom and the hotel in general was extremely clean was also a huge positive for us!
Finally the breakfast was lovely and a real treat as so many of the hotels listed on various websites did not include breakfast in the room rate. There was a lovely choice of fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal, bread and cheese and delicious pastries.
Overall we would definitely stay here again and also recommend it to friends. We were sorry to leave!

We recently stayed for a week at the lovely Hotel St. Germain, and found the hotel to be charming, with an excellent, quiet and authentic Parisian location close to the metro for easy access to the city. The staff were very nice with good recommendations in the area. The rooms although very small were of excellent quality with very comfortable beds. Although small it was loaded with ambiance and an overall good value.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Saint Germain. We had read the trip advisor comments and were expecting a small room and we certainly got one with a view of the stair well and the lift only went up to the 5th floor. But as all the comments say the hotel was very central and the staff were friendly. We did have problems with cold water which did not seem to get sorted which did mar the holiday as the weather was really cold. The breakfasts where fine and the waiting staff very friendly and helpful. I would only stay here again if wanted to visit this area, which is very nice but the hotel room was just too small.

Room Tip: Ask for hotel at the back of the hotel and not on level 6. Check the size first as well.
