We were lucky to find such a great place to stay in Paris. Hotel St Andre des Arts is perfectly located for experiencing the Paris cafe culture in the morning, seeing the sights in the afternoon, and grabbing a drink at night. The rooms are basic, but provide everything a traveler could need. The staff was great. They regularly helped us find our way through the city, recommended things to see, and were more than willing to just sit and talk with us. We cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Not only are the front desk staff warm and friendly, but the hotel itself exudes a very authentic Parisian charm in its architecture and decor. Even if some people may find it old, it actually adds more character to the place, plus it's very well maintained and they keep it clean. We stayed at the highest floor, in a quad room, and we had a nice view of the city. The room had plenty of windows, and don't worry about anything flying in if you keep them open for fresh air. Although it was a 5-storey walk up, it made our first trip to Paris a memorable one. In the morning they serve hot coffee with baguettes with butter and jam. Not forgetting the location is right smack in the middle of Saint Germaine, so you're pretty much in walking distance to a lot of main attractions ie: Napoleon's Tomb and the Eiffel Tower. That is if you're the type to walk! Hahah...

Room Tip: There are no elevators, so if you have a lot of luggage or can't be bothered to going up stairs...

You cannot imagine a better spot for your accomodation than this hotel, regarding price and transportation. Carrefour supermarket is close to the hotel (79 rue de Seine). Easy access to ALL sights. Additionally, Saint-Germain is not at all dangerous and it is one of the most vivid areas of Paris. Tasteful chocolate drink served in the morning. Only disadvantages: lack of elevator, small (but clean) bathroom.

Room Tip: Ask to book a room in a low floor as there is no elevator.

The hotel is very basic. It's prime asset is its location. It was within walking distance to both the Louvre and Notre Dame. Most of the staff was very helpful. They let us keep our luggage while we went and explored Paris. Breakfast here is scant. It's just bread and jam. We felt poor eating here.

The room itself was clean and well kept. On weekend nights, the street outside can get noisy, but we didn't really have a problem falling asleep.

My biggest complaint about this place was ONE staff member who was just incredibly rude. For most of the trip, I thought "Wow, the French aren't rude at all. What is everyone talking about." And then this one guy had to go and fulfill the stereotype. We had a very early check out from the hotel -- 5 AM. No one had told us that the reception was not 24 hours, so when we got downstairs we were surprised to find that the front door was locked and there was no one at reception. I guess we were pretty noisy because someone came down from upstairs and pretty much YELLED at us for being stupid and inconsiderate, telling us we should "think ahead" before trying to check out for an early morning flight. Let me remind you that NO ONE told us that the front door would be locked. Not when we booked, not when we checked in and not even when we asked the front desk to book us a taxi for 5 AM the next morning. Maybe they should "think ahead" and realize that when someone is trying to get a taxi at 5 AM, that means they are also trying to check out at 5 AM. And that moment is when you should tell them that checking out that early would be difficult and to make an alternative arrangement. Geez, the French...

Room Tip: They do not have a lift, so if you have a lot of luggage or difficult walking, ask for a room on the...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location is great - close to so many attractions that are easily walked and close to 2 Metros - Odeon and St Michel. If you are travelling by train with suitcases, I suggest St Michel as there are less steps to cllimb!! Staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The desk is manned 24 hours a day and if they don't recognise you, they check your name before handing out the key - this is a good security check.
Breakfast is basic but good - baguette, jam and tea/coffee. Served from 7.30am.
Rooms received a basic clean. We stayed 4 days - had no linen on beds changed and towels only changed once. Glasses used were left where we left them! The fan didn't work but fortunately it wasn't too hot while we were there.
Yes, it is noisy outside, but if you close the window quite firmly, it does block out 95% of the noise, so we had no trouble sleeping. Beds were comfortable.
If we return to Paris, would stay here again.

This little gem is in the heart of st germain, and has the basic amenities you need to get you up and running in Paris. Nothing flashy but it is clean and friendly for a great price.

Room Tip: No elevator so choose level 1 or 2 if you don't like stairs

Spent 6 nights in Hotel Saint Andre des Arts. Fantastic location, walking distance to St Chapelle, Notre Dame cathedral and Louvre. Happening street, Saint Andre des Arts, with plenty of restaurants. The popular ice cream outlets, Amorino and Grom, are also within the vicinity. We found a supermarket, Carrefour, just minutes away, which we visited almost everyday to replenish our food supplies. It took us 5 - 10 minutes to walk from the metro station, Odeon, to the hotel.

Found the room spacious with a double bed, small sofa, closet and table. It also had a clean bathroom with a bathtub. Quirky design in the room, very old school. Excellent bed, we slept very well throughout the 6 nights. Breakfast was simple but adequate, if you are not a fussy eater- unlimited bagette with jam, butter and honey cream (loved it!), accompanied with coffee/ tea/ hot chocolate.

Staff was friendly throughout our stay. We made it by without being able to converse in french, other than the usual bonjours and mercis.

A great find, especially if you are on budget.
