“Good for One or Two Nights”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

This hotel is a very good option for those passing through Paris and staying for one or two nights. The hotel location is very good as you are 20min from CDG Airport by Metro and for 9,50 Euro eu can get to the hotel and from there you can explore the whole city through the subway.

The service is good and in less then 5 minutes I had my check in by very attentious people.

The room is very very small and your sink shares the desk where you you have a space to work. The shower is very good and towels are quite simple, but good bed, decent television, good wi-fi and air con

I would recomend the stay here again.

An unrivalled location for Eurostar travellers. The historic building was a joy with its picturesque lift and beautiful staircase . Fabulous views from the 8th floor. We watched the Eiffel Tower sparkle on the hour.
Excellent breakfast and friendly and helpful staff.

Walking out of the train station and straight into your hotel, to start enjoying Paris within 15 minutes of arriving is rather wonderful.
We had a room in the front of the hotel, on the 5th floor, with a French balcony overlooking the street and the Gare du Nord.
Logically, with the train station, taxi stop, bus stop and many restaurants, the area is noisy. The noise is pretty well contained behind isolated French doors. Not many sounds from within the hotel itself. The breakfast area is very small, but guests arrived at different times so we always had a table.
I'm very surprised at the comment that the breakfast was very simple. It might not be 5star, but there's something for everyone and it's never empty: juices, milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, croissants, pains au chocolat, baguettes, cheese, ham, cereal, fruit yoghurts and different kinds of spreads. Don't forget the most important thing: this is one of the cheapest hotels in Paris you can get apart from sleazy ones and still breakfast is included. That's a very rare thing to find.
Reception desk staff were all very friendly and funny.
Cleaning staff could have been better: we asked for the room not to be cleaned during our stay, but it was, and after the first time, the door was left open. Not visibly open luckily. Also, they have that towel-scheme where they won't be replaced when you hang them, to lessen the impact on the environment, but even when hanging them, they were replaced. A few mini-sized toiletries were thrown away even though they weren't empty yet - I think cleaning staff should basically stay away from toiletries.
Decor was rather nice, stylishy modest with a few bright colours here and there. You can see the hotel has recently been renovated but it has not been done to a very high standard technically. We didn't mind at all, but it is something that sets this hotel apart from more expensive hotels.
Not all hotels offer separate beds, Ibis Styles does and keeps the promise. Beds are o.k., pillows are, as usual, horrible - I will never understand why hotels always choose those light, fluffy pillow with all air and no substance.
24-hour manned reception that offers the service of keeping your bags safe on your last day after check-out, unlike many hotels they use labels for that, which is a good system.
Wifi is free and works fine without any annoying long registration or login required.
Thick curtains ensure total darkness in the room if so desired.
The room we had (501) was, for Parisian standards, not at all small.
Sweets and bottle of water in the room.
For those who enjoy Paris by bicycle: the Gare du Nord bikestand is right in front of the hotel (if you have a room at the front, you can even keep an eye on them) and if you use Vélib', quite a few stations very nearby (but, keep in mind that the Gare du Nord is obviously a busy spot so the Vélib' stations are often empty).
Subway station literally about 20 steps away from the front door.
Keep in mind that even though the location is very convenient with the train station, taxis and subway within an arm's reach, this is not the very center of Paris. Well within the périphérique, but going to the very centre (i.e. the Louvre or Notre-Dame) will involve a 15 minute subway ride. Lucky for us, the Paris underground works wonderfully and is cheap.

All in all a surprisingly good deal for un-Parisian room rates.

Room Tip: People with claustrofobia should keep in mind that, like many Parisian hotels, the elevator is tiny...

My Green Card was stolen as we made our way across Paris for our return flight to the USA. After filing the police report and contacting the American Embassy we needed to find a hotel. We struck gold with the ibis Styles Gare du Nord! This is a budget boutique hotel, so the rooms may seem on the small side to an American tourist, however they are clean, well maintained and furnished. Our room had a sofa bed that our daughter could use, which was comfortable both as a sofa and a bed. The en site bathroom was beautiful in grey and white and the space was very efficiently used. A continental breakfast is included in the price of the room, which includes pastries, breads, ham, cheese, cereal, juice and hot drinks. *I cannot commend the staff of this hotel enough.* They quickly arranged a day-by-day stay as we were uncertain how long it would take to get papers to renter the US. They were helpful beyond belief as we gathered the paperwork for my embassy appointment, helping with printing, directions and even the location of a launderette. Montmatre is very close by and as the Gare do Nord is a hub, transportation to anywhere else in Paris is very easy - just be very aware of pickpockets on the metro. Others have mentioned the air conditioning, but the windows opened and it was cool during our visit, so this was not a problem for us. We had some of our best days in Paris after the unexpected extension of our trip due largely to the hotel staff and its convenient location. I would certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor facing Gare du Nord for a view of Sacre Coeur.

we were warned day we were travelling to Paris on Eurostar that the station has a real problem with gangs of men hanging round and too be most careful. Unfortunately this is true and it makes staying at this hotel an uncomfortable place to stay. We were in/out Paris couple of times and found hotels away from station much better.
Staff were o'k to deal with, breakfast for price o'k. The lift size is ridiculously small and stairs far too narrow , sharply curved and not good to walk on. I would hate to be there if fire alarm went off (as happened to us few days before in another Accor hotel) as no way everybody could evacuate at once on those stairs. I would recommend strongly to Accor that they and other large French companies put pressure on the authorities to clean up the area around the station it is not good for Paris as a great tourist destination. Having police walking around with guns looks menacing but the groups hanging around for hours seem to take no notice. They are clearly visible from this hotels balcony and any proper camera security system would identify the problem groups. While we were in Paris there was a fatal attack at St Lazare station its essential that the authorities take these issues seriously. This hotels position near the station was our reason we had booked it, but certainly wouldn't recommend staying there unless things change.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Right opposite the Gare du Nord so a terrific location as we had come from London by Eurostar. The rooms were clean and nice and the breakfast good. Our air conditioning didn't work. At first they said it was because it was in heating mode and could not be changed. Complete rubbish as it was a heat exchanger. A man on the front desk said he would get it fixed but to no avail. In the end they admitted it was broken and nothing could be done as it was the week end.
The other worrying thing about this hotel was on one occasion we were locked in as the man on the front was elsewhere and he had locked the front door. I would say this extremely dangerous policy and probably contravenes all fire regulations. So I think they need another couple of staff to ensure the front desk is manned at all times and when breakdowns occur they can be fixed immediately.
I hope the Accor group takes note of this.

The hotel is directly opposite the Gare du Nord making it very convenient for arriving off the Eurostar. The rooms are somewhat cramped though clean with well soundproofed windows, which is essential given the noisy location. A downside is hotel policy not to have the air conditioning switched on until the 10th June which is not much good staying in a heatwave in early June! All the receptionists were very friendly and helpful in contrast to one of the breakfast rooms staff who's soul aim seemed to do as little as possible. For example paper coffee cups were put out and the china cups were hidden so she could avoid washing up.
