“Very Good Great Fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014

In a side street, it's a typical Paris restaurant. Smile at the staff and they will always help. Food was delicious, wine good, tables fairly well spaced. Book or go early.

“Montparnasse walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We came about this charming place after walking around for a while, it was early evening, by Paris standards, and we were fortunate to get an outside table without waiting. The food was delicious, however, the service was a bit slow, but we have to understand that time slows down in Europe. It was filled with locals, that is always a good sign. Good choice!

“Good food, slow service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

We discovered this restaurant round the corner from one of the theatres in the Montparnasse district. It is directly opposite a Caribbean-style restaurant which looked interesting, and popular, but we were in the mood for something more typical of metropolitan France. The solitary waiter was quick enough to seat us and bring menus, but he was so busy serving existing customers and seating new ones that it was a long time before he came to take our order. Unusually for France we were given no bread until, much later, we asked for it: by that time his colleague had arrived. We must have waited for nearly three quarters of an hour listening to the first waiter's hard-soled shoes walk up and down behind us until eventually we were served. Then the kitchen got our orders mixed up and I had to wait even longer for my main course.

However, it was all worthwhile. Delicate and flavoursome asparagus for starters, followed by a substantial and luscious piece of steak. So different from the standard Parisian 'steak-frites' with its dried-up rubbery meat. Rather than 'house wine' as such, the restaurant has a policy of serving several wines from their list by the glass or carafe, and I enjoyed a delicious Merlot while my wife relished plain water! Despite the dilatory service (they were clearly overworked and harassed) the staff were extremely pleasant and polite, and we were in no particular hurry, so the delay did not take the shine off a memorable meal. And it was not expensive.
