This Hotel was the first hotel I ever stayed in over 40 years ago, back then it was charming. It has not kept up with the changes in that part of Paris. The original decor was tasteful it is now deplorable and no renovations have been undertaken despite the now exorbitant prices. It's a very small hotel even by Parisian standards. The bathroom stinks, the fluorescnet lights are offensive, the carpets in the rooms are dirty and smelly and the rooms are minute with absolutly nowhere to put anything and no fascilities whatsoever.. The unmatched decor is revolting obviously the cheapest they could get. The supercilious staff were oblivios of my request for a larger corner room. In six months of travelling in Turkey, Greece and Italy, including Athens, Rome, Naples and Istanbul this has to be the worst hotel and the most expensive that I have encountered...it's always full and they should have improved things, the owners are obviously too greedy to care.... Pathetic.
Such a shame because it's in a fantastic location even if the once genuine market street has turned into a pathetic parody of itself, butcher and fish shops have gone to be replaced by ultra expensive "gourmand" delicatessens. .....such is life.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are larger and have several windows, the small rooms are MINUTE

Dear Mrs SylviaScaglia,

We thank you for choosing the Welcome Hotel again after 40 years.

However, we are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We totally understand that hotel changed in 40 years but it is sad to see that you do not like it.

Two years ago, we renovated rooms walls and changed the curtains. Carpets, which are cleaned every day, will be changed this year. Some of the bathrooms have been renovated like the one you had in your second room, but changes take time.

This year, commune area were all renovated, except reception which is not finished and now all the hotel is air-conditionned, and you can use the new terrace in front of the hotel for breakfast or just for having a rest. This summer, all the beds will be changed and blankets will be replaced by duvets.

As you can see, renovations have been done. However, decoration taste depends on everyone.
We took note of all your remarks and will see how we can improve our services.
When you made your booking, you asked for a room on the corner if it was available. We always do our best to satisfy that kind of request but sometimes planning makes it difficult. When you asked to change of room, receptionist tried to find a room on the corner and he did. That second room was a little larger but as it was 40 years ago, our hotel does not propose big rooms, and this is something we can not change. That is why we paid much attention to comfort and decoration.

We are sincerely sorry to read that your experience was so disappointing. We are not used to that kind of comment and we would be pleased to welcome you again in order to show you what is our tourism conception.

Best Regards,

The location of this small hotel - just off the Bvd St Germain - is perfect for those who like this part of Paris. The room was small but adequate, the shower room excellent, the wifi reliable, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The noise from the street below and the Bvd St Germain did not bother me, but could be a problem for light sleepers. They should try to get a room at the back of the hotel. I am sure I shall use the hotel again.

Room Tip: Book early to get a good rate, especially if you want a single room. If noise keeps you awake, ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Dear Lycidas,

We thank you for writing a nice comment about Welcome Hotel.

Saint-Germain des Près is nice and lively area. It is one of the most attractive district of Paris. As Welcome Hotel is located in the center of Saint-Germain, you can hear the noise from the street when your window is open. As we have no rooms on a courtyard, we are pleased to inform you that all our rooms are now air-conditioned. We thought that double glazed windows and air-conditionning would help our guests keeping the window closed.

It will be a pleasure to welcome you back to Welcome Hotel.

Best Regards,

Hotel Welcome was an excellent choice for our family in Paris. You can't compare European, big city hotel rooms to rooms in America so you have to start from a different place. We've stayed in other European hotels, with Bathrooms, that were two Start and this was very good for the money.
The Location can not be beat in Paris- easily walk to the Louvre and two different metro stops within 1.5 blocks . The rooms were quiet and had AC which is very important if you don't like to hear traffic and noise all night ( like we did in London)...The staff was very helpful, pleasant and helped us out with every request. In front of the hotel, on the street the hotel has it's own tables where you can sit and have a bottle of wine, snacks--whatever you want to do and you're sitting in the same place as expensive Brasseries all around. Great way to spend some time with an inexpensive bottle of wine, cheese and snacks..The other thing is that our family felt VERY SAFE the whole time in the Hotel and the neighborhood--that's important too.
If we were going back to Paris I would definitely stay there again...

Dear Dhorton77,

We would like to thank you for taking time to write a comment about Hotel Welcome.

All the staff was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. As you wrote it, standards are different from a country to another and old Parisian buildings often propose small rooms. However, we paid much attention to comfort and decoration.
Tables in front of the hotel are new and it is a pleasure to see that you used it and that you enjoyed.
Saint-Germain is a central location. You can access a large part of touristic places by walk. And as it is a lively and touristic district, it is very safe.

We hope to see you again at Hotel Welcome, for your next stay in Paris.

Best Regards,

We stayed at the Hotel Welcome in mid April-2013. Our room was small, almost too small, we had to use the bed to open our suitcases. That was manageable. The office staff was great and helpful and this is within easy walking distance to many must see Paris locations, Notre Dame, Cluny, Orsay, However, it would seem that they have not yet fixed their odor problem, It was pretty strong, but if we kept the toilet seat down, the bathroom door closed, and the room window open it was tolerable. If they can fix the smell problem it would be a fine place to stay... but if I go back I will looking elsewhere to stay.

Dear David A,

We would like to thank you for choosing Welcome Hotel for your visit of Paris.

First of all, we apologize for your experience with us. The odor problem was fixed but it happened again and a plumber will come back. We are sorry for the trouble it caused you. We inform you that reception desk is always there to answer your questions, to help you, and even to propose you another room. Do not hesitate to contact them.
Saint-Germain des Près is a very nice area, however, we can not lay on location. Our tourism conception is more than that and your well being is our main priority.

We would be pleased to welcome you again in order to show you what is a real stay at Welcome Hotel.

Best Regards,

We got a last-minute room here on our honeymoon for 3 nights. We got a corner room with 2 HUGE windows. I can't say enough good things about this hotel... the staff were friendly and helpful. We asked for a dinner recommendation and they got us reservations and drew us a map! Really excellent price and location!

Room Tip: The corner rooms are a bit roomier
