The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to a lot of places. We walked all over the city. The lobby was nice and looked modern. The room had a really nice view of the courtyard with windows you could open up to look out or let some air in.

The bed was not that comfortable and sort of small. The bathroom was split on two sides on the room; near the main door was a toilet area with a door to close. The bathing area was on the other side of the room and had no door - making it VERY cold while showering/getting out of the bath. That brings me to the shower..... there wasn't one. We had a tub that we had to stand it, with a removable shower head we had to hold up and try to wash as best as we could. This was miserable for us. The room was old, not at all modern, and smelt a bit funny. It irritated my allergies (dust, mold). The glass shelves were dusty the whole time, I don't think they'd ever been cleaned.

To me, the meaning of a 'do not disturb' sign is please don't come in my room. One day we didn't want a cleaning, and had stuff sort of everywhere. So we put up the 'do not disturb' sign and went to get breakfast and were out a few hours. When we came back, we saw the sign was gone, and upon entering the room we realized the maid had disregarded it (obviously she saw it as she removed it!) and cleaned our room. I was not at all impressed with that, if that sign is up you just don't go in, period. I said something to the front desk staff and they recorded it in a log book, but didn't seem to think it was a big deal.

The TV had so few channels, all we could fall asleep to was BBC news which got a bit boring and repetitive.

I have also never seen such a small elevator in my life. If you are claustrophobic at all, be prepared to take the stairs.

Some of the front desk staff were nice, and others just indifferent.

This hotel was just not my cup of tea.

We have stayed at the Select Hotel twice so far and if we go back to Paris, we will definitely stay there again. The rooms are well designed, making best use of the space and everything in the room is so comfortable - the bed, the study chair. The large windows that start from the ceiling and almost touch the floor makes the room bright and the outside views of the Sorbonne is fabulous. The small piazza just out side the hotel and in front of the University is always bustling with fun activities, music, not to mention the great eateries nearby. The very helpful nature of the staff tops it all up.

Perfect central, quiet and relaxed location. The staff had all the answers to our questions and were extremely helpful. Very comfortable bed however if you are claustrophobic this hotel has possibly the smallest lift in the world as our well appointed yet small room was not accessed by the main lift. Maybe worth checking although It was not a problem for us

The hotel is very well located in the Heart of the latin quarter, right next to the Sorbonne University. The hotel is facing an almost idyllic Square with few restaurants. Walking distance to most spots in Paris.
The lobby is very spectacular decorated, but the rooms a classicaly furnish. The only weird thing would be the foldable doors to the bathroom?! The rooms are small, as expected, but comfortable. Breakfast is served in the cellar and is very good.
Overall a very good experience

We stayed at the Select between July 14 -19th. It was a great location just outside of the Sorbonne. There was easy access to the Metro and you are in walking distance to Notre Dame, Louvre and other great attractions.
The Rooms were a decent size with a Bath and hand held shower nozzle. They were made up and kept clean everyday. The concierge were very helpful and spoke good English when asked to. I can recommend this Hotel if you are travelling from Overseas. They are happy to book shows like Moulin Rouge etc for you. Will visit again.

Room Tip: all rooms are reasonable here.
