Grand Hotel des Balcons

On our 5th trip to Paris, we chose the Hotel des Balcons for its location and for the details on their website. What you see on the website is exactly what you get. It is charming, spotless, large enough by Paris standards, perfectly situated between St. Germain and the Latin Quarter, and with a tiny balcony to boot.
The staff are professional and wonderfully helpful. We were there during the worst of the transportation strikes and received warm and thoughtful advice on how to best navigate the city.
We have enthusiastically told others about the Hotel des Balcons...a gem of a 2-star hotel. We will return.

This hotel is great in every way, an incredible value for the price. Extremely clean and comfortable. Rooms are small but so comfortable it doesn't matter. Breakfast is fabulous, one of the best we had in Europe. Staff could not be more helpful. Family owned and successfully operated for two generations, it's easy to see why, this is a three - four star hotel at a two star price.

I stayed here for 5N in October and enjoyed it, especially for the location. It was a short walk to the busy St. Germain area and Odeon Metro stop, but I more often walked to the Cluny Metro stop because I used an internet cafe across the street from it (called Milk---it's a chain). It was less than 5 min to Luxembourg Garden, then a left turn up rue Soufflot to the Pantheon. It was easy to find places to eat (Restaurant Polidor two blocks away was quite good), though one night I was very tired and I bought a ham and cheese crepe and found a half-bottle of wine at a grocery for dinner in my room.

My room was big enough, with a small, but clean and new bathroom. It faced a courtyard, so I didn't have one of the little balconies, but neither did I have street noise. The front-desk staff was warm and friendly, responding in either French or English. Breakfast was 12E, but it included bacon and eggs, cold meat, cheese and yogurt, in addition to croissants.

My only negative is that it is somewhat noisy. I'm sensitive to noise and always sleep with earplugs when traveling, but I could still hear my neighbor's TV till 11:30, and later I could hear him snoring. It's an attractive, nice hotel for a modest price and you will feel safe and comfortable here.

We found this a perfect place for our first stop in Europe. Close to many forms of transit, restaurants and cafes, a grocery store, and the Luxembourg gardens (lovely in November!). The room is nothing amazing, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom was simple and did the job. We didn't buy breakfast, but found cafes close by or stopped at the grocery for croissants and got a coffee to go at Starbucks and sat in a park. The price was not cheap, but it was central Paris, so we thought it was good value. The lobby is lovely and welcoming.

Internet deal of 90 Euros a night for a single room, steps away from the Luxembourg Gardens and Place d'Odeon was a find. Yes, the room was small but it faced the inner court and was quiet and very, very clean with good linens and towels.
Remember this is a 2 star hotel but the service and staff were top rate and delightful.
I don't think it is air conditioned but I am not sure.
The WiFi is available for a charge by the hour or day.
Excellent bath room for such a small room, modern with deep tub/shower thing.

The hotel is in a central location but quiet. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spotless but small for a twin room. The staff were very friendly and professional.

Breakfasr at 12 Euros was not cheap but there was a big choice and if you want to save on lunch. you can have a big cooked breakfast as well as the usual cereals, croissants erc.
