Take away bakery, fantastic croissant and pain au chocolat.
We had some amazing bread with lardons too.
Friendly staff, and very busy too.

Solid bakery. After going to Sacre Coeur and Montmarte, we stopped by here. We bought a baguette and some cheese across the street. The line was long but moved quickly. Very lovely.

We were in Montmartre and heard a lot about Le Grenier A Pain (it won the best baguette award before).

We didn't feel like baguette but had a financier framboise, a heart-shaped flaky pastry (palmier), and a madeleine. It was very well done and tasty.

The weather was too cold, but I imagine it might taste even better if the pastries were warm.

After several days in Paris and not finding a chocolate tart at any patisserie, I resorted to Google. Le Grenier a Pain came up as having the best in Paris. Fortunately, there was a Grenier in the Marais neighborhood, my favorite area. Google was right. Le Grenier a Pain offered milk chocolate and dark chocolate tarts and tartlettes. I chose the dark chocolate tartlette and a noisette (espresso with a splash of cream.) What a chocolate and coffee jolt that was! Oh la la! If you are a chocolate lover..DO NOT MISS THIS!
