The Hotel Keppler is the gold standard by which other Parisian hotels should be measured.
Our family stayed at the Hotel Keppler for over a week. We were impressed and highly recommend this excellent hotel.
Located only three blocks south of the Arc de Triomphe on a quite side street, the hotel is extraordinary from the first step inside.
This is a small, boutique hotel, not a monster chain hotel. It’s a well managed, safe hotel in a good neighborhood.
The hotel owners clearly know their craft. The hotel is in excellent condition – fresh paint and no dirt in any corner. The entire main floor public space is styled as living rooms, modern and spotless. The outside walk is scrubbed each day.
A doorman and a desk manager greet you each and every time you enter or leave. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The rooms are spotlessly clean, well appointed with comfortable bedding, appealing modern artwork, cardkey locks and adequate in size for European hotels.
There is a thermostat on the wall for individual heat and a/c control, and a flat-screen display with HD channels. In our rooms, the overhead and bedside lighting was controlled by advanced (and expensive) individual pushbutton wall dimmers. With the windows and drapes closed, the rooms are as quiet as tombs.
A number of neighborhood restaurants, a dry cleaner, and multiple ATMs are all nearby. The Champs-Elysees is a five minute walk.
Around the corner is Josephine’s bakery. The hotel recommended Le Marceau, two blocks away for first night comfort food. Two thumbs up for both establishments.
Two additional comments:
During autumn, the hotel turns off the air conditioning as the temperature drops, requiring open windows for ventilation at night. On the street side, there is an adequate breeze, but there is street noise as Paris, like NYC, operates 24 hours per day. On the four wall courtyard side, there is little or any breeze for ventilation. The hotel provides room fans.
The hotel uses Swisscom for wireless internet. This is an unsecure, unlocked wifi network. Be careful. The hotel provides logon info, but Swisscom requires frequent revalidation. During the evenings, with many rooms logged on and using an iPad, the response time was painfully slow – over a minute between web pages.
All in all, simply an outstanding hotel. We’ll definitely return to the Keppler on our next trip to Paris.
