Love this place, rustic ancient market with interesting history. When staying in the area, we visit this market regularly. Love the smells and the atmosphere. Have a coffee and watch the word go by, especially on the weekend......very interesting.

This is all I like : a hidden place discovered from a very good friend piece of advice !
NAmed this way because of the orphelins weraing a red jacket hosted here by the nuns in the 17th C. You can buy very fresh food but most of all you do not have to miss the wide choice of very simple but tasty and affordable food in the different "Counter Restaurants" . The food is prepared under your eyes, th elongest the queue is , the best the food is ;-). It's worth waiting? Yu can choose your favorite place : the Crepes one, the home made Hamburger, the French Cheese and wine, the Marroccan one etc... Our daughters had a go for the Hamburger place: the best in town, 10 € a double burger + French fries+ drink. We had a go for the Marrocan tajinas: delicious! A chicken almond and onion or mixed vegetables, olives and "citron confit " for 8 €
the big loaf of hand made bread 2 €, a soda 1,5 € the the typical mint tea 1,5€.
Have a sit on a mosaic table and you can feel somewhere else. An experience not to be missed!

There are lots of yummy food choices to be sampled, but don't miss the amazing crepes artfully prepared by a charming man who genuinely seemed to love what he does. the Nutella and ham, cheese and sautéed onion were favorites, both for less than 4 euros. great people-watching on a Sunday makes this place a leisurely and lively adventure not to be missed. Also tons of great, unique boutiques in the adjacent blocks.

DES Enfants Rouges is a covered market,. Named for a 17th century orphanage near by, the children wore red uniforms. The center of the market is full of vegetable, meats venders. Then there are food venders where you buy your meal and take it to umbrella table along the outside. Very interesting very good value. In the Marais.

As of August 28th the building was completely under construction. They were working on the sewers so the area was rank. Steer clear until the dust settles.
