“Great hotel - Great Spot - small room”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

This hotel was great - an awesome location near walking distance to all the sites and major metro stations. The location seems very Paris - and less touristy
Very polite staff.
Room was super clean but small. If you are creative, you can make do with the space and your luggage.
I got upgraded to a room with a balcony.

So this is my favorite hotel in Paris and I've stayed probably half a dozen times and as i left booked yet another stay for May...

The PRO's
everyone else says it location - top notch, endless places to eat, drinks and go sightsee
super clean, spotless
really great friendly staff
They also pieced together three separate reservations into one 3 night stay without changing rooms, on their own, i really appreciated it.

The ok...
gym is good, but squeeky and wobbly, guessing no one is regularly checking the equipment
breakfast is pretty good. not cheap (15 euro) but you get a lot and great service

the poor
had a bottle of water and a coffee at the bar for a work meeting at it was 9.50..definitely steep
this is continued with 5 euros for a tiny bottle of orange juice
I don't understand the key issue either..they used to have a big key that you returned, and now it's like a car alarm..why make this so complicated?
They also need real coat hangers...i just paid 200 euro to stay there , i'm not stealing your coat hangers..

Room Tip: 54 is a great room on the corner..

A charming hotel in the heart of the fourth quarter. Very nice design, but the rooms are ridiculously small, but this is the beauty of paris. The rooms are very clean and the service is very attentive

The Marais has certainly changed a lot since I first stayed in a shabby run-down place there 30 years ago. It's scrubbed up well and Hotel Duo is a typical clean, smart, modern boutique hotel within a minute or two of Hotel de Ville and 5 minutes from Note Dame. The staff are friendly and efficient, the rooms are clean and well appointed and there are enough cafes and restaurants to satisfy your hunger, thirst and need to get out and about without trekking across town.

This hotel is located just few steps from Hôtel de Ville, Paris and Metro station. Very good location indeed. The room is small compare to the price. The key is not a key card system. It is something using electronics and they gave us only 1 key per room. My friend and I did not stay together all the time, therefore, it is a little annoying to check whether our key is at the reception or not. Even sometimes, the reception asked why I did not left the key when I go out. But in fact, my friend was in the room all the time.

We stayed at Hotel Duo for a night in March 2013. A great hotel, our room was small ( but typical for Paris) in a fantastic location. Staff were very friendly, couldn't fault it.

However as we were waiting to leave to go home we ordered two cups of tea. In one was a Lipton English Breakfast tea bag and hot water in a very small cup. In the second was an Earl Grey tea bag, also with hot water in a very small cup. The bill for both of these came to a staggering 12 Euro's. Beware!! I would hate to see what the rest of the drinks on the menu cost if a tea bag and some hot water cost 6 Euro!!!

We stayed at the Duo in September 2010 we decided to go back this March. Glad we did.
Know that this isn't the Four Seasons, but you aren't paying for the four seasons when you stay here. We know European hotel rooms are small so we booked a Superior Double, but even that was too small. So we upgraded to a Luxury Double, which was worth it to have a normal size, modern hotel room. The bathrooms are nice, but be prepared for water to get everywhere when you shower. There's a cute bar on the main floor and even a small gym in the basement. We didn't use the gym, but after eating crepes and macaroons all day it was nice to know it was there.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, all excellent with the exception of the night desk attendant who seemed to always be off drinking tea whenever we got back from our night out (he has to be there to let you in and give you your room key). Even he wasn't that bad.
The BEST part of the Duo is the location. Steps away from the Hotel De Ville metro stop and the M1 line you're minutes away from all the touristy sites and shopping. Even better, you can walk to the Pompidou, Notre Dame, and all over the Marais which has great restaurants and shopping.
For gay men, Raidd bar is on the same block. Free DJ, Open, and Spyce bars are around the corner. Cud bar is down the street, and the Scream party was only a 10-15 minute walk.
By coincidence, friends of ours from London were in Paris the same weekend as we were. They just happened to stay at Hotel Duo as well. We all had an enjoyable weekend.
