Wander westwards along Abbesses and take a right fork up the deserted Rue Lepic for one block then discover La Mandigotte on the corner. Charming and chic simplicity, encouragingly patronised [it seemed] only by [lively] French diners [generally a sign of acknowledged quality] and providing a menu hiding genuine 'twists'. We took a starter of tomato and mango with different duck mains [the magret being the winner] and fruit/sorbet and tarte tattin desserts. All very well presented and with innovative use of sauces and combinations. Service by the patron was charming. English spoken and there is an English menu board, should you need it.

Tucked away amid the reviewer’s rosettes of the Rue Lepic there is a modest looking restaurant bound to be picked out only by those with a nose for a winner. The bric a brac of the mechanical age gives nothing away but the nimble and smiling waiter is a good sign. We respectively chose peas with fete and mint and rough-cut raw salmon in a cucumber cup and sour cream, washed down with fresh aligote with just a hint of sparkle. We both chose exquisitely chosen and cooked calves liver with a raspberry vinaigrette, balanced by a beef tomato, with mash to soak up what was left. The 6 Euro cheese platter was as varied and generous as those at the current going rate of 16 Euros per person and I enjoyed my half of Cote de Blaye. My wife shared the cheese and ventured a lime sorbet with vodka while I finished with a calvados. And all at a round hundred.

When we asked the waiter for the meaning of Mandigotte he said it was "a little girl". A sweet little girl indeed who will be irresistible when she matures.

Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We ate early as going to see Moulin Rouge show at 9Pm and was fairly quiet but imagine it would be really busy later. The restuarant is fairly close. Its about 10mins walk away from Moulin Rouge and is well worth a visit.

Came across La M whilst strolling close to hotel. Was a Saturday evening so I suspect we were lucky to get a table without a reservation, certainly a number of others were turned away. Service was professional and friendly, clientele was a mixture of tourists and locals. We ate rabbit with pasta and duck. Both were very good. Prices were reasonable. If in Montmartre I'd recommend a visit.

We spent the day in montmartre and wanted to get away from the tourists. We walked up Rue Lepic and found this gem. Food was amazing. Raviloes De Royan and a magret de canard both delicious, fresh and made with great care. Service was brilliant, ambience warm and inviting. Well priced for Montmartre (approx 30 euros for 2 mains, 2 drinks and 2 coffees)
