We had three nights at this hotel over the recent Tour de France finale w/end. For the most part it was a good experience but the lack of a lift (it was being overhauled) meant popping back to our rooms became an ordeal. In fairness, we had asked for rooms on a high floor as these are usually quieter and we were sort of offered alternatives. Foolishly we declined, which proved to be our mistake. After the first night we asked about moving to rooms on a lower floor but by then the hotel was fully booked. What should have happened, I feel, is that the hotel should have made the lack of a lift more obvious on their website - from overhearing some comments made by other customers checking in we weren't the only ones to feel this way (the lift is apparently out of action for well over a month).
Okay, that's my major gripe out of the way. This was otherwise a good stay. The rooms we had were very nice; good aircon, reasonable showers, comfy beds, wifi that worked (even on the 5th floor) and a big widescreen t.v. This only had two English channels, the dire BBC World and even direr CNN.
Breakfast was reasonable without being great but what was nice was the all day bar. Ok it only served soft drinks but there were a good selection of these (nicely chilled in a big fridge) plus cakes and savoury nibbles. A very nice touch this.
The staff were, I would say, functional rather than over friendly. The hotel is in a nice area, with a Metro station about 100 yards down the road. It's an uphill walk to Montmartre but mainly downhill to the city centre (but even downhill is tiring in 30 degree+ heat).

As a first time visitor to paris I came to this Hotel by recommendation from a friend. He was right in everything that he said. Exceptional staff, easy access to the Metro, walking distance to everything and always there to give great advice. The concierge was able to get me a front row seat at the Moulin Rouge when it was sold out..... Couldn't ask for better service than that.

Wonderful check in experience....very helpful reception staff....gave great information on how to negotiate the Metro, booked tickets to Moulin Rouge, confirmed tour booking and gave good general info regarding best sights to see for a stay of our length.
Negatives were few, but lift is EXTREMELY SMALL....may require 2 trips to your room with large suitcases.
Moulin Rouge is only a short stroll away....very convenient for the downhill stagger after the show. St Georges Metro station only 300m away
Many lovely cafes and restaurants surrounding the hotel.
Breakfast included very good coffee and also scrambled eggs which is not always on a continental breakfast menu.
Rooms are small but very quaint.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here.

A friend and I came to Paris for 2 days/1 night. We stayed at the Hotel George Opera and were very impressed.
The hotel is not far from a metro station and only a short walk from Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur. For those who don't mind walking it is a fair walk from most of trhe tourist sites of Paris, we walked from the hotel to Notre Dame and also back to Gare Du Nord.
The room was very clean and fresh, other reviews have commented on the small rooms, but when it is just a space to sleep, size is not a main concern. The beds were clean and fresh (and not small as another reviewer suggested, I am 5'10 and not slim, the bed was fine!)
Breakfast was lovely with a range ti choose from.
The staff, especially the manager, were polite, friendly and very helpful.
I would definitely stay here again.
