Description: Founded in 1908 by the Chardenoux family from the Lozère region, this authentic Parisian bistrot - actually listed as an historic monument - has seen generations of workers and market gardeners, when the countryside was just outside Paris. It is the old-style counter, a piece of their history and those little Bistrot dishes - so friendly, generous and heart-warming - that the Chef wanted to give back to Parisians when he took the place over in 2008. Renovated and refurbished, the Chardenoux has been given a second lease of life, a room buzzing with lively conversation and the tinkling of glasses. The food served features fine seasonal produce, convivial cooking that is always cheerful and lively with that little extra touch of soul and generosity dear to Cyril Lignac. Like at the Chardenoux des Près, the chef has put together a menu that gives pride of place to genuine Parisian bistrot specialities, not forgetting the finest products from French soils. In a room that seems almost suspended in time, the ceiling has a painted sky, and there is also a terrace for 20 diners for lunch or dinner outside when spring rolls around.

“Over and over again”

This is the best restaurant and chic brasserie I know in Paris, I can eat here over and over again without getting bored, you too, invite a friend, a business relation, an ambassador, you are fine here.

“Wonderful”

We probably have been to Chardenoux more than 10 times in the course of the last 5 to 6 years. It was always a great place but since the takeover by Cyril Lignac the food is even better. Service is friendly and efficient (only ladies this time). The atmosphere of the place is outstanding and worth the visiti by itself. I loved my Simmenthal beef and the purée is soooo good (du beurre et du beurre et du beurre...). Speak some french and be prepared that space, as in all french restaurants, is limited.

“Brilliant food, wine and atmosphere!”

We spent 3 hours in this restaurant for a celebratory dinner after running the half marathon on Sunday. Not many places are open on a sunday so we tried this bib gourmand tip. We had a table of 10 and were all looked after brilliantly. The Cote de boeuf was delicious however the scallops was a small portion and one of the sirloin steaks wasn't outstanding. The fois gras and white truffle macaroni was wonderful as a starter and so were all the deserts in particular the Paris brest and profiteroles. We also celebrated a friends birthday and the waiter kindly lit candles and served the cake we had taken with us (and sang happy birthday!) They did everything possible for us to enjoy our evening, we felt very spoilt and looked after. Thank you!

“Failed to live up to expectations”

We had chosen this restaurant from the Bib Gourmand guide and therefore had very high expectations for the food and service. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful and there's a very lovely atmosphere. The staff are attentive and helpful however they fall short when they don't remember what each person has ordered nor check during the course how your food is. The food itself (apart from the desserts) was very over priced and under whelming. The beef cuts are not great and very tough to eat. Seafood portions are starter size and also do not taste amazing. The only saving grace was the desserts which were truly superb. As as aside the bathrooms were not kept stocked up with paper or hand towels so I had to ask a waitress to get some as I had wet hands and no means to dry them (apart from my clothes!!). The coats are also hung up by the door and I do not recommend you put them there as someone could just take them. The restaurant needs to do a lot of self assessment and changes if it's to keep on the listings and get the waiting staff and chefs into gear.

“Great service *** VERY under par food *** OVER priced”

How disappointing!

I write recipe books myself and my dad is an amazing chef so our expectations are quite high when it comes to food.

Cyril Lignac's cuisine is amazing when executed by HIM. He is diluting his brand by buying restaurants with poorly trained chefs.

My appetizer was marinated sea scallops. Came by itself. Plating was very banal. No special taste apart from the fact that the products were very fresh. Steep price!

Entrée : grilled scallops with French fries. Only 4 very small scallops for 27 euros (about $35). How insane is that. Especially considering the fact that the French fries were barely edible: very mushy and under cooked.

At least the service was amazing with a very understanding waiter when it came to my dietary restriction.

My dad was also disappointed.
