On a quiet backstreet, opposite the famous Sorbonne university, yet only ten minutes walk from Notre Dame, this hotel has a very good location. The rooms are small, but newly renovated, with good air conditioning. The staff is friendly and service-minded. The breakfast buffet is good, but the small breakfast room in the basement tends to get crowded. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Not knowing what to expect but just relying on tripadvisor reviews which were mainly good but some negative, my husband, myself and my grown up daughter booked ourselves a triple room in this hotel in mid July for 4 nights.
When we first saw the hotel, it appeared quite small and was in a small narrow street right opposite the Sorbonne which is a famous Paris university. I think the street was very quiet because all the students had gone for their summer break, otherwise I imagine it would be a lively place.
But once we entered the hotel, it looked like a very nice cosy hotel. The check in was quick and efficient, service was polite. I had taken the precaution of writing to the hotel a week beforehand requesting for a more spaceous room on a higher floor and I was indeed very pleased with the room that I was given. Room 503 was a family room on the 5th floor built with a duplex, so we the parents had a generous sized double bed below and up a small flight of stairs, the duplex level had 2 single beds , which my daughter was very happy with.
The only complaint I have is that the shower bath had no shower curtain, just had a partial shower screen so it is impossible to shower without flooding the bathroom floor. I think many reviewers here complained about it, so hopefully the management will install shower curtains.

Other than that I found the hotel is lovely and quiet and yet just a short stroll from cafes, restaurants, shops and the metro station. Also a short walk to the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the river. Altogether I was very happy with my choice of hotel

Room Tip: I was on the top floor, I e 5th floor No 503, which is suitable as a family room for a couple with 2...

Dear Madam,

Thank you very much for having taken the time to share your review about Hotel Mercure Paris La Sorbonne.

It was a real pleasure to read that you enjoyed your stay with us! A few steps from the Seine River, in a typical Parisian street, and in the “chic” and quiet area of the Latin Quarter, our location is perfect to discover Paris. We can also inform you that, even if La Sorbonne is full of students the most part of the year, our street is still quiet!

The family room you had is the most spacious we have. We are pleased that you appreciated the duplex level with the two single beds!

We will be pleased to welcoming you again upon your next stay in Paris; do not hesitate to contact us directly!

Yours Sincerely,

Maria Pires

The location is very nice, close to metro, RER and heart of the city (St. Michel, Notre Dame, Louvre etc.). The staff was genial and helpful. The rooms were clean and useful but not big. We didnt have meal at the hotel so no comment.

The hotel is directly opposite the Sorbonne university (from the balcony you can look the secretaries over the shoulder) and a stone-throw’s distance from Boulevard Saint Michel, from the Pantheon and from the jardin du Luxembourg . In other words: It has a very good location.

The rooms are nicely refurbished in modern design and with a nice big bed, but relatively small.

In particular, the bathroom is a wonderful example of optimization of space. When you first enter, you think there is no toilet, but no worries, it is just hidden directly behind the door (Caution if you are two: If you open the bathroom door while your partner sits inside on the toilet, you risk getting troubles with him/her.)

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, in contrast to some other Paris hotels.

Price: 151 euro with breakfast included, booked via travel agency. The official price indicated in the room (260-550 euro) is certainly too much for the comfort offered.

We are a family of five and we went to Europe celebrating our youngest daughter's 15th birthday.
The personnel was very kind and accommodating. One of our rooms had a bad odor since they had cleaned the carpet and was still a little wet. They couldn't change the room but sent a bottle of champagne and gave us 100 euros discount. The hotel is a few blocks from Notre Dame in the heart of the latin quarter...great location! My youngest daughter forgot her wallet with money inside and the hotel wrote me to let me know after we had left Paris. We were in Italy coming back to Paris to connect back to the USA the following week and they sent us her wallet by courier to the hotel at the airport (with everything inside). That the internet was weak and the tv had only one channel in english. Other than that everything was great!
I will definitely go again

Room Tip: I believe that the internet is better on lower floors
