We had a lovely stay in this hotel in the heart of the Latin Quarter. The hotel is in a great location and the street is very quiet. Room was small but had everything we needed. Very clean and the beds were comfortable. The only issue we had was it was almost impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom.

My friend and I are studying in the UK for the summer and wanted to spend a weekend in Paris. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at the Mercure La Sorbonne. The rooms are small, but that is typical of most hotels in Paris. The location is perfect, especially for college students, as it is located in the Latin Quarter and close to Saint Germain. Personally, this is my favorite district in Paris because of its unique and lively character. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as many boutiques and bars. The metro is about a 5-minute walk down the street (Suny- La Sorbonne, Line 10), making it easy to get anywhere in the city inexpensively (guard your belongings! I was pick-pocketed). It is also very close to the Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame, and isn't too far away from the Lourve.

Positives:
- Friendly staff who spoke English well
- Very comfortable beds
- Small balcony to get some fresh air
- Clean hotel
- Great location
- Free wi-fi throughout the hotel
- Public computer in lobby
- Complementary tea and coffee inside room

Negatives:
- When they say you get 2 beds, you actually get two small beds squished literally right next to/touching each other
- Elevator is slow and it's faster to take the stairs
- We needed an electricity converter and the one that they had didn't fit the plugs in the room (very frustrating since we desperately needed our phones that were out of battery)
- I called for an iron, and they asked me to come downstairs to grab it myself. For the expense of the room you would think they'd have good enough service to at least bring it to you themselves
- The shower didn't have a curtain so it was difficult to shower without water flying everywhere

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Mercure La Sorbonne. We are two university females and felt very safe in the area, which was our main concern. I would recommend it to other students; however it is pricey, but it is a million times better than a hostel.

Room Tip: Request for a room with a balcony

My partner and I had a fantastic stay in this hotel this month. We stayed in room number 333, a great standard double room.

We only had two "problems" during our stay:
1) We had to wait 1 hour after our arrival (one hour after check-in's started) to get our room. This may have been caused by some visitors that didn't check out on time, but we didn't suffer too much from the wait because the reception stored our luggage so that in the meantime we could go outside and look around. (Were it not for this delay, we would have rated the hotel as excellent!)
2) Our showerhead had some minor leakage problems. Some water always came out of the lower part of the handle, but aside from that it was good.

Now over to the GOOD things, and they are many:
- The staff was very friendly, helpful and always at our service.

- If you want to save money by not eating breakfast at the hotel (a bit pricy), there are various of eating options only a walk away.

- WONDERFUL location. No matter if you want to shop or visit the great monuments, this hotel couldn't have been placed any better. Why? Because there is much to see around the hotel, and the metro isn't far away. You can walk to Notre Dame and more. We even walked all the way to l'Arc de Triomphe one day (and took the metro back). Sure, it's a long walk, but then how much do you get to see of the city when you only take the metro?

- The room is clean - no unpleasant smells, no dirty lining, the bathroom is clean, everything is clean.

- The rooms are not super tiny! We read reviews saying they were so, but no, they are not. The standard double room we had had a good size. Only the bathroom was a bit small, but it was still a great bathroom. And then anyway, when in Paris, who wants to spend time in their hotel room except for when it's time to sleep?

- The bed was big and really comfortable.

- We didn't hear our neighbours.

- You can come back to the hotel 4 in the morning and there'll still be someone to open the door for you. They're there 24/7!

- When you check out, you can keep your luggage in the hotel. You are not told that you have to pick it up before a certain hour, either. That means you can spend one more day in Paris without having to drag around a heavy suitcase.

We had a wonderful stay in Paris thanks to this great hotel, and we will definitely come back.

Room Tip: Couples shouldn't need anything bigger than a standard double room.

Great location - within 5 minutes walk from Notre Dame and the banks of the Seine. Quiet back-street location away from the hussle and bussle. Worth returning to and to use as a base for future business trips to Paris.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind comment posted on TripAdvisor further to your recent stay at Hotel Mercure Paris La Sorbonne.

We are indeed located in the heart of Paris, very close to Notre Dame, in a particularly nice neighborhood on the edge of the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain-Des-Prés. It is an ideal location for exploring Paris.

Yes, our 47 rooms hotel consists in two buildings combined into one. Each building is looking over a quiet street: rue de la Sorbonne on one side, and rue Champollion on the other side (75005 Paris). But half or our rooms are looking over an interior courtyard, providing even more quietness.

We were most pleased to learn that your stay with us met your expectations and we hope to have the pleasure to welcoming you again in the near future.

Yours sincerely.

Typically small rooms and tight bathrooms but otherwise pleasant and predictable. We had breakfast a couple of times...a nice assortment of items, a bit overpriced but worthwhile since we were traveling with two teenagers and they needed food to start the day. (For a quick and inexpensive alternative, there's a nice little patisserie next door run by a friendly owner.) Attentive service in dining room and at front desk. Located across the street from la Sorbonne, easy walk to restaurants, metro and RER.
