We made our booking more than 2 months in advance and then arrived to be told there had been a problem and no room was available for us.
It was very obvious they had accepted our booking for two nights, and then when someone wanted to book the rooms for a longer period of time they had chosen to give up the rooms for short staying customers. We saw three other groups of customers being told the same story.
After a lot of arguing and waiting around, while we should have been out enjoying Paris, they eventually found us a room in a grotty place nearby at no extra cost (lucky us!)
Our short break was ruined. Avoid this nasty establishment at all costs!

THEY ARE STILL BEING DISHONEST

As we arrived at the Hotels Des Arts, I had to keep driving around but my wife and friends stepped around a comatose drunk in the next doorway and went into reception. The man at reception said what a good job that we had not parked the car because we had to go to a much better hotel (a 2 star) in a better area. It was miles away from the area we had arranged to meet other friends.
These people ARE dishonest and there were at least 2 other groups at the Doree (the other hotel) that had the same thing done to them.

I do not know which hotel is the better and the Dore was OK but it was very inconvenient not being able to stay in the area that we booked. If I wanted a magical mystery tour I would have booked it, probably saved money and not had the aggrevation.

AVOID BOOKING THIS HOTEL!!

After we had booked the hotel, we saw on several sites that this hotel regularly said to guests that they were overbooked, or that they had problems with heating and water on the 5th floor. This also happened to us; we got moved to another hotel (des capucines) which was allright. When you want to stay at the hotel des Arts, it's advisable to confirm your reservation the day before you arrive.

I am French as well and I have all over Europe. I don't agree with the person who said that THEY OVERBOOK PURPOSEFULLY. They absolutely do NOT do that. They are a very busy hotel and rightfully so. The bathrooms are not too big but that's because this is Europe and space is at a premium..just like in London or any other big European cities. Of course, no one goes to Europe to find the conveniences of the USA.

this hotel purposefully overbooks and then shuttles you off to a hotel in a much less desirable location. I have lived in France and speak fluent french, and when they realized this they were a bit sheepish about the double bookings. It was done purposefully.
These people are dishonest.

This small hotel is conveniently located near a metro stop in the l3th arrondisement. It is reasonably priced, quiet, and extremely clean. I have been stayed here for more than fifteen years and have concluded that while there may be far more luxurious choices, this hotel suits my purposes: the rooms are big enough for a table, chair, bed, etc, and the bathrooms are not small; the staff, whom I have gotten to know over time are friendly and helpful; and the neighborhood has also grown more interesting, too. If you are not looking for luxury, and are content with peace, quiet, and a clean room, I heartily recommend this place.

Hotel was very nice and clean. Breakfast substantial. Desk could have been friendlier and a bit more helpful.

I would recommend staying there, just don't expect to much from the people behind the reception desk. They are not the friendliest.
