“Well situated, welcoming hotel with clean rooms and comfortable beds”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

Positives - very well situated hotel, the front overlooking the Tuilleries with views of the Louvre and Tour Eiffel. The rooms are decent sizes and the ones at the back, although with no view, are on a courtyard so should allow for quiet and open windows. The refurbishment lacks a wow factor but the rooms are more than functional and the beds comfortable. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, especially Mohammed. The bathrooms are clean and functional without being state of the art.

The negatives - stairs, lift and upstairs corridors are rather tired and old fashioned. The breakfast is poor with an overcrowded room, with poor service and among the worst croissants I have tasted in France, for which there seems little excuse.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would return.

Room Tip: It at the front, the higher up the quieter it should be, as the Rue de Rivoli is busy - and fantasti...

I think this is a great hotel if you're looking for an old style Parisian hotel in a great location. Personally I prefer modern ammenities and plumbing, and not saying it wasn't nice here, but some things I prefer more modern. For instance, the shower was a hand held sprayer which you needed to hang up, and didn't throw out too much water. The tv was bolted to the mini bar fridge, and wasn't too big and didn't swivel. That being said, not sure how much time you'd be spending in your room with the location in Paris you're in. You walk out the front door, to the right is the Eifel Tower and left the Louvre. A few more notes on the room. It was definitely big by Paris standards, and if you're looking for that old world charm I don't think you'd find a better place. My room was in the back of the hotel, so absolutely no view, which was disapointing. I did book through expedia on a discounted rate, so i wasn't expecting much and just accepted it. I think if you book here, you won't be disapointed, but know what you're getting into. If you're looking for modern, stay at the Hyatt or Marriott.

Room Tip: The front of the hotel

We stayed for 4 nights and we had one of the rooms you see on their webpage (room 312) with the view of the Tuileries, Louvre, Tour Eiffel, Musee d'Orsay, etc. You could not be better located in Paris and it is next to Angelina (if you like chocolate and cakes).

First, The room and bathroom were very clean and the lady in charge did a wonderful job. The shower was very good. Good TV, a fridge and coffee and tea facilities (the kettle leaked a bit but I did bother to ask for a replacement). Although the room faced the Rue de Rivoli, the two sets of windows stopped any traffic noise. The beds were very confortable with 3 pillows and extra blankets. The walls are plain and could probably be decorated better with some paintings, etc. We had very quiet nights and the heating worked very well.

Second, The lobby is very small with a reception area where there is a new computer with a big screen and printer for customers to use (I printed our boarding tickets). There is also free WiFi in the rooms with good reception (type your room number and the first 5 letters of your surname). I do not see any reason to sit downstair unless you are waiting for transport or someone. But the place is rather elegant.

Third, Food facilities. We did not have breakfast (we went to the Pain Quotidien and Angelina) but room service is very disappointing (it is not what you would expect of a 4 star hotel). I do not think that they have a kitchen so the menu consists of cold salads and sanwiches, good quality and prompt service but terribly expensive. We ordered room service twice before going to a concert and another time because we were too tired to go out. We would not like to recommend room service.

Finally,The staff. Everyone (except one) were very helpful, friendly and willing to serve with a smile. I think that they are an asset to their hotel. However, I will be writing to the Manager to complain about a red hair man who was totally out of place; fortunately we only saw him once.

The Verdict: we recommend this hotel and will certainly be staying in room 312 again but we hope that they improve the room service menu (hence only 4 stars).

Room Tip: Only Deluxe and Executive rooms have the best views apparently.

My boyfriend and I stayed here at the end of July 2012 for the final stage of Le Tour De France. The location was perfect we came to Paris from London via the Eurostar and then got the metro to the hotel. On arrival the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and the bellman took our luggage up to our room for us. Please note the lifts are tiny! However the stairs are easy to use and we weren't that high up. He then showed us around our room, very spacious with an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower and we had a mini balcony, large enough for a couple of people to stand out on but not move, great for Sunday when we watched the end of Le Tour De France, amazing view! The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was very clean and perfect for what we needed it for. We were really lucky with the weather and had warm sunshine the whole time. There is a fun fair in the gardens opposite but we didn't find this a hassle or noisy as it seemed to close about midnight before we would get back from a night out! We even ventured over there one day and went on a few of the rides including the log flume, its a lot of fun. The location of the hotel was great and meant it was easy to get about, we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel as it wasn't included in our room fee and we thought it was overpriced, so we visited a couple of cafes along the road of the hotel and these were lovely and cheaper if you just fancied a tea and croissant. One of the days we walked to the Eiffel Tower it probably took 45mins to an hour but in the sunshine was a lovely stroll and we managed to take in more sights/museums along the way. The Louvre is only a 5 min walk away and a quick tip get up early and get there for opening the queue is really small and so when walking around the museum you actually have space, however it becomes busy quickly and on leaving around 3 hours later, the queue outside to get in was so long and over an hour wait! We only stayed for 2 nights but I would have happily stayed for longer! Check out was quick and easy and we ended up getting a taxi back to the station. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again if visiting Paris, which hopefully one day I will!

If you are looking for a beautiful hotel located in front of the Tuileries and next to the Louvre, look no further. The service is top notch, rooms are larger than most in Paris, and the views at night onto the city are simply stunning. Their room rates are considerably less than similarly situated 4-star properties which makes the Brighton a bit of a bargain. While another reviewer pointed out the breakfast charge of 19 euro, it is worth noting that most hotels of this calibre charge 20+ euros for breakfast. But breakfast at the Brighton it is not mandatory. With so many cafes surrounding the hotel, the options for breakfast are limitless. As frequent visitors to Paris, we find this location to be one of the best for visiting not only the museums (metro stop Tuilleries, LIne 1) but also shopping the designer boutiques on rue Faubourg Saint Honore just behind the hotel. The area is safe and not nearly as crowded as some of the other arrondissements. Perfect for first time visitors to Paris but also for those who have been before.

We chose the hotel for its location which is unbeatable and stayed three nights. I was a little disappointed with our "superior" room which was up in the roof on the 5th floor, but pleasant enough. On the plus side the staff are friendly and the breakfast excellent, though it costs 19 € per person on top of the room charge. On the minus side, as others have reported the wifi is pitiful, (room 501) where the signal from the Meurice way down the Rue de Rivoli, appeared more often than that of the Brighton which rarely registered on the I- Pad at all, and then usually disappeared when a connection was made after many attempts. Also we had a chipped rim on a cup in our room (which was washed and replaced every day), and a chipped rim on a breakfast cup. I for one don't expect this in a four star hotel!

Room Tip: 5th floor is in the roof .....don't choose 501 if wifi use is important to you!

I chose hotel Brighton for our 6 night stay in Paris over New Years Eve after some research. I wanted a good location, a large comfortable room, preferably a view and good value. I know it is a lot to ask but I found it in Hotel Brighton in their Executive room.
On Rue de Rivoli right opposite the Tuileries garden in the 1st Arrondissement, this is a great location for your first trip to Paris ( or second in my case) as it is within walking distance of most of the "must see" attractions. It is, however a tourist area and therefore most of the restaurants in the area are expensive ( just walk a bit further over the river).
Hotel Brighton is right next door to Le Meurice, a well known 5 star hotel with a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Hotel Brighton has the same views but it is a third of the price. The reason being it does not have all the added facilities. There is no gym, spa, restaurant etc. there is a small lift that services the 4 floors or a spiral staircase. That said, they do provide room service from a nearby cafe ( we did not use), the spa facilities of Le Meurice can be used and there is a breakfast room which we used once and consisted of the usual hot and cold buffet. There is also a small bar in the reception area which opens in the early evening and looks out on to Rue de Rivoli.
The room, and I can only speak for the executive room on the 2nd floor, was exceptionally large. The bed was 2 singles pressed together as in most European hotels, the room also included a stand alone wardrobe which was big enough to open my suitcase in and empty it's contents. There was also a suitcase stand. Towards the window was a good size table and 3 chairs. The "window" was actually 2 sets of French doors which opened to reveal a wrought iron railing, also called a balcony but you couldn't step out. The view was fabulous, across the Tuileries to Museum D'Orsay, the Eiffel tower and ferris wheel and the other end, the Louvre. The 2 sets of doors are to keep out the noise and the cold.
In the entrance area there was another built in wardrobe with shelves, hanging space and the safe. In this area was a toilet with vanity.
The bathroom was large by normal standards with a separate bath and shower and double vanity all faux marble. There was a heated towel rail (great for drying hand washing) and the tiled floor was heated. The only problem with the bathroom was the hair dryer which was one of the useless ones attached to the wall. I did ask reception for a proper hair dryer and they found me one. There was no power point in the bathroom though, so I dried my hair by the big mirror in the main room.
Now the service, it was faultless, reception is manned 24/7 and there was always a greeting and smile for us. We arrived at 7.30am and our room was ready 1 hour later after a stroll and coffee. The night before we were to check out I became violently ill with a gastro bug. The hotel arranged a doctor, they organized and liaised with our travel agent in Australia to cancel our train trip and organize a hire car and they called our next hotel to explain we would be late and we had a late check out. As I said, faultless! I will definitely stay here again in the Executive room.

Room Tip: The executive room with view!
