“Average but good value for a great location”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

I was in Paris to run the annual Paris 20km which starts and finishes at the Eiffel Tower. We did heaps of research in to hotels in the vicinity and this one was definitely one of the cheaper ones available. My cousins booked a room here also and my sister ended up staying with me. The rate for Saturday night was €130 - other nights much less (I think Sunday was about €90). As previous reviews have said - this is not a fancy hotel so don't bother booking if you are looking for luxury of any sort. The lift is tiny, the hallways are shabby, the lock on the door seems insubstantial, the rooms in fact are a little shabby and you could not swing a cat in them.

However, you walk out the front door and get your first fab view of the Eiffel Tower - it doesn't matter anymore! There are a couple of great restaurants nearby and good shopping about 10 mins away. The rooms are functional and clean. The staff are fine and I have no complaints at all. I travel a lot for business (the following night I stayed in a typical chain) and sometimes its nice to stay in a small hotel with a little character (or at least some of the staff had some)!!

As we were warned by previous reviewers, the hotel room is so much smaller than we are used to in the states. A heavy person would barely fit in the lift or the shower. No joke the shower was 2x2. Another disappointment was the Internet which is incredibly slow compared to what we get in the states. On the bright side the staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel is an easy walk to the Eiffel Tower, the tour buses, and the subway. The rate at 133 Euros we felt was high for what was offered. There were two moldy patches on the ceiling where water had leaked. We stopped and inquired of other hotels and the rates were much better. The hotel Cere on Rue de Cler at 100 euros for a double was very nice however it is closing soon for renovations until the Fall of 2013. We would recommend the Open Tour bus. You can see all of Paris on their five tour routes with unlimited use of the river bateaux which make five stops up an down the river at the main tourist sites. The subways also are easy to navigate.

We've just got back from a good trip to Paris. The hotel is in a good location.
Room was clean and quiet. Beds were very comfortable. Very pleasant and efficient reception on arrival. You are in a city, so there is road noise, but it is quiet enough with the windows closed. We slept well.
Some have said that the shower / toilet is too small. Ours was absolutely fine; yes it is an efficient use of space ... but why do you need a place the size of a football pitch to have a wash? However, if you are 'a biggie', fat and wobbly (larger BMI than 25 or so) then yes, you would be advised to lose some weight. It was fine for us and we are not bean poles!! Of course I can only speak about our specific room.
No, it didn't look like it was falling apart, as someone else has said.
Breakfast looked good, but we didn't have it only because we prefer to go to the local cafes.
So, yes, it was fine and I'd be very happy to go back. No complaints.

The good things first - very good location - close to metro stations, walking distance(almost) from Eiffel Tower, helpful staff. While the room was clean and manageable and not out-rightly bad, the hotel itself was too cramped, almost shabby and felt a little shady! Breakfast was not too great either. If location is what you are looking for - the hotel is good. But if the hotel stay and hotel experience is important for you, this property is a no-no.

So i read some very bad reviews after we had booked this hotel. However it really was not THAT bad. We stayed in August 2012, and had requested a double room for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young lady who spoke good english, she said we had only booked for 1 night however i had the confirmation which clearly stated 2 nights. She soon sorted this and we as given our room key. Room 11. As we walked up the stairs the paper was peeling from the wall, and the decor is VERY old fashioned however we paid 178 euros for 2 nights for 2 people so we couldnt moan. The room was small, however we only slept in it so it didnt bother us. Bath was very tiny, no mirror and plug next to each other so cudnt dry my hair infront of a mirror. The location of this hotel is perfect- around a 7/8 min walk... sometimes longer if you get stuck chatting to the men trying to sell you dogey flashing eiffel towers. For a yound couple whose first time in paris i thought this hotel was ok. Plus whilst there we got engaged so we wasn't too bothered about the small things.

I knew that European hotels tend to be smaller than American hotels, but this hotel was cramped. Mostly the shower area and the bathroom had no shelving to place shampoo or soap. The hotel was not terrible, but the decor was neither modern nor particularly tasteful. The furnishing in the lobby area are extremely eclectic, or as my husband put it, "tacky!"
