2 adults and 2 (younger) teenagers stayed for one Saturday night as part of a weekend break.
The rooms are on the small side as typical for a non-chain French hotel, but are exactly as described on the hotel website. Probably not for you if you have several large suitcases as you’ll have difficulty locating them and the wardrobe space is pretty much for overnight clothes only. However the rooms were spotlessly clean, as were the bathrooms. Water in the shower was hot and powerful – not the dribble you often find in French hotels, and the beds were big and comfortable, with great duvets. Wifi is free - variable in the rooms but fine in the reception.
We made a last minute booking but the hotel managed to give us two rooms next to each other so the kids had their own room. What was good was that both these rooms were behind a separate door which could be opened by either individual room key – so the kids had their privacy but we had the security of being in the same section as them. It wasn’t the high floor as some have recommended so we only the front room got a side view of the Eiffel Tower if you looked slantways out the window, but you do get a great view from the higher floors.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived well before check in after an early flight to Paris, but one of the rooms was already ready so we could leave our case. The hotel also looked after our luggage on the Sunday whilst we toured Paris all day.
Breakfast in the small vaulted basement was great. (Note hotel is currently doing free breakfast promotion for March 2013.) Options includes bacon, sausages, eggs, cereal, cheeses, croissants, pastries, juice, hot drinks, all in a buffet style – excellent and freshly cooked. This free breakfast turned a good value stay into excellent value.
The hotel is a very convenient 5 min (max) walk from the Ecole Militaire metro station. Walk back that way from the hotel and cross the road and you are at the Ecole Militaire itself on Pl. Joffre from where you can take the delightful walk through the park up to the Eiffel Tower. Head in slightly the other direction from the hotel and you are at Les Invalides in 5 mins as well. It’s very conveniently located.
All in all, a good value, great little find in the 7th Arrondissement, close to the Eiffel Tower.
