I stayed with 2 teenage children for 1 night and found the hotel to be beautiful, friendly and good value. The location was ideal for access to the Champs Élysées, Metro and a 20 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. We felt totally safe walking out at night and thoroughly enjoyed the attentive service from the reception, concierge and waiter.
Next time we will stay for longer. Breakfast is beautiful - from the lovely china crockery to the beautiful individual pots of fruit salad.
Prepare to feel spoiled. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so special.

I have just come home for a 3 day, 2 night stay in Paris. We found this hotel on Groupon and I was very pleasantly surprised. We got a great deal so were not expecting too much of luxury but we were thrilled with the hotel.

The BEST location you could ask for - literally a stones throw from the arc de triomphe, and perfect for and travelling from either the Charles de Gaulle airport or gare de lyon for eurostar - it is again just 20 metres from the metro. And also great for metro to Eiffel Tower and Moulin Rouge.

Charming staff, very clean rooms, lovely bathrooms although they don't have shower curtains (the only negative thing I have to say) so water goes onto the floor. They offer free wifi and even use of ipads for free - just leave passport as a guarantee, they are superbly accommodating and we got champagne and wine on arrival! Also they have a safe free of charge in each room and slippers and robes - lovely touch!

The rooms are super but not enormous - very typically Parisienne! We did pay a small extra for a superior room upgrade and I'd say that's definitely worth it. The bathroom however is very large! And the twin beds were comfortable and big.

All in all, a fantastic stay and top of my list to recommend to friends and indeed I hope to return.

Myself and 2 girlfriends stayed for one week in late October early November. The location was excellent. Our room had a newly remodeled bathroom which was very large, and our room was just large enough for the 3 of us. Everything we needed was within walking distance (close walking distance). The staff was extremely helpful and helped us with any sightseeing questions we asked. My husband and I returned to the Balmoral 2 weeks later after sightseeing in Italy, and we were greeted like old friends. They allowed me to keep a suitcase at the hotel until I returned. I will stay at this hotel again.

We have stayed here for three nights at January. The hotel location is superb, the room was clean with a separate WC and an traditional French style. There are nearby many restaurants and a metro station. Also it is a walking distance from many sightseeings. The staff of the hotel speeks fluently english and they are all very willing to help you (many greetings to the young guy in reception). There is indeed a small elevator but come on what the owner can do about that? The breakfast hasn't as many options as i would like. Also i would have given it a 5 star rating if it was cheaper, i believe it is somehow a little expensive.

LOCATION:
I paid around 150 Euros per night, and got every penny's worth. But most of those pennies went to pay for the convenience of location. The hotel is right on the CDG Etoile (Arc de Triomphe), which means steps away from the RER, Metro, and the AirFrance "Le Car" shuttle bus. Seriously, the location cannot be better. But, this is a budget hotel in extremely expensive area of Paris; you will be making tradeoffs.

FACILITIES:
This building is old, the floors are creaky, the hallways are tight, the rooms are small. If you're bothered by noise at night, you should ask for the top floor, otherwise you will hear people walking around above. (I stayed in two different rooms during my four day stay).

ROOMS:
Rooms have a certain charm with their decor, furniture, and art. The beds are OK, but the bedding is not. It is made up of a thin sheet covered by a scratchy horse blanket (like the kind found in american motels in the 80s). Offering modern comforters would completely change the sleep experience at this hotel. The rooms are clean (but the carpet is old and sticky) and the bathrooms have a modern appearance and are large. The only problem is the shower. Some bathrooms don't have a shower, they just have a bathtub with a shower head nozzle that can't be fixed for showering while standing. Some bathrooms do offer the standard shower. The problem is that both types of bathrooms don't have shower curtains, so no matter how hard you try, you will end up getting water all over the non-drained bathroom tile floor. I noticed that the management responded to this problem in a recent review. It said that glass curtains were installed. Actually, there was a glass partition, but on the far end of the shower, which completely defeated the purpose of it being installed. I had to use the extra towels to mop up the bathroom floor after each shower.

SERVICE:
Service is good. The front desk and the bellhops are friendly and helpful. They offer laundry service which is great for long vacations. Room service is offered from 5pm to 1am. The front desk will ask you for your key each time you leave the hotel (a european thing), so if you are bothered by that, stay in a large chain hotel or make use of the safe that is offered in the rooms.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:
Despite this being a budget hotel, I could tell that the management was really trying to make the best of the hotel for its class. I would advise staying outside of paris and taking the RER or metro in to see the sights or do business. You will save money and stay in a better hotel. But, if you must absolutely stay in the Elysee area without breaking the bank, you must stay at the Balmoral.

Dear Sir,

we thank you very much for your comments. We are happy you appreciated our services and our friendly staff.
As for the showers, we are about to fix shower head nozzle on the wall in order to be able to take a shower while standing. This will be done in the next weeks.
We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you again in the future.
Respectfully.

I stayed in the hotel in January and it's a good hotel. Some small things to improve like new wall paper, of some very small repairs, nevertheless value for money and most important there's a good bed, shower and breakfast. When I go back to Paris, I will go back to this hotel

I stayed at the Balmoral while on business in the last quarter of 2011. The hotel is easily placed for walking to the Champs Elysees and is in a nice quite side street. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the general appearance of the hotel is very nice.

The room itself was a twin and was amply large enough with a very large bathroom. The room however was in a bit of a state of disrepair, there was wallpaper hanging off the wall near the window alcove and other areas where the wallpaper was ripped, there was a poor ceiling repair and the room generally felt a bit dark and gloomy. The bathroom although as mentioned was very generous in proportion had a dangerously slippery tiled floor and no shower curtain provided which exacerbated that issue and generally made having a standing shower an impossibility.

Breakfast was a bit of an event with us getting the general feeling that while very nice, the staff were a bit bewildered.

If they were to improve these issues I would be happy to rate the hotel higher.
