I stayed at the Hotel Louvre Sainte Anne both before and after a barge cruise and could not have chosen a more perfect little hotel. The location, as others have already mentioned, is superb: Just a quick 10 minute walk to the Louvre, Opera, or the Place Vendome, the hotel is situated in the heart of the 1rst arrondissement and flanked by some of Paris' best and most popular Asian eateries. The staff is exceptionally helpful and, from providing detailed maps to personal recommendations, they are spot on. Edyta, Moun, and Andrej are also wonderfully hospitable and kind; truly nice people who so obviously enjoy what they do.
As for the rooms in the Hotel Louvre Sainte Anne, yes, they are small. This is, after all, Paris and Paris simply does not offer spaciousness unless one is renting a suite in a much larger hotel. My rooms (I had two different ones due to my itinerary) were immaculate, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and very quiet. The rooms feature minibars (though the small market just around the corner is a much more affordable option), safes, extra pillows and blankets, flat screen televisions with ample station selection, and towel warmers. The bathrooms are equally clean and the shower is more than adequate and delivers plenty of hot water with excellent pressure. The hotel does not stock all of the little amenities one might desire, such as wee soaps, gels, lotions, etc. but the staff can and will find you anything you may have forgotten to pack. So, too, washcloths are not standard (are they ever in France?) but one can be had for the asking. The optional breakfast, held in an enchanting converted basement nook, is a very good deal IF you eat a full, hearty breakfast. The cheerful attendant will cook you as many eggs as you like, however you like, and the remaining buffet offerings (consisting of fresh fruit, breads, yogurt, bacon, sausage, potatoes, cereals, beverages) are also limitless. If, however, you are a single croissant and cup of coffee person, it is much easier on your wallet to walk to the Avenue de l'Opera and start your day at one of the cafes. Should you choose to breakfast at the hotel, do plan on heading downstairs right at 0700 for the best selection.
As a single traveler I found that the Hotel Louvre Sainte Anne had everything I needed wrapped up in a pretty little room, in a fabulous location, for an excellent price. This is my new favorite Parisian hotel which I recommend especially for singles and couples. As well, I do plan on staying there again next Spring.
