Ambassadeur Hotel

Apsolutely terrible, and I have nothing positive to say. Let me explain...
The area it's located in isn't the safest. Even the taxi driver felt the need to tell me not to walk around there, especially at night.
The hotel is in bad shape and even though they are doing renovations to it, in the middle of August, I highly doubt much can be inproved.
The doors don't really have a handle and you need to pull on the actual lock, plus theyfeel like they were made of plastic.
The walls are thin, the wallpaper and carpeting looks very old and dirty, the room only had one outlet, we didn't have cold water in the sink, there was mold, the shower curtain bar is held up by zip-ties, and one side of the shower isn't covered by the curtain which leaves the bathroom in a puddle whenever you're done showering. There's more, but you get the picture.
Trust me, stay away from this Hotel. You'll ruin your vacation.

As my second time visiting Paris but first time staying there for multiple nights, I would put average for the rating although I have no comparisons in terms of quality per price with other hotels in Paris.

The room I stayed is facing toward the street and also directly opposite to the lift. It is a bit noisy keeping the window open during the night, especially in the morning around 6:00 am. The wall is also not very soundproof. You can hear the sound of neighboring doors (presumably the door of the lift) smacking against the frame. In general, it is not terribly noisy and people easy getting asleep may just ignore it.

The staff at the reception desk have three shifts. The lady in the morning does not speak too much English. The other two staff speak sufficient English. All in all, they are quite friendly and offered much help.

The hotel was conveniently located next to a metro that took you straight to the Champ Elysees. The staff were very friendy, helped out with travel advice and went out of their way to help us when we had internet problems. The rooms were basic but perfectly functional and clean with a tidy well supplied bathroom. They had an elevator for bags, great (though not free) wifi and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was great value and I'd stay there again no worries.

Simple but clean rooms. Basic breakfast of croissant and bread, butter, jam and ham, and cake plus hot drinks. No restaurant but lots of restaurants/take aways/fast food in adjacent streets.
Near Guy Moquet metro so easy access to central Paris.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Some English spoken.

Room Tip: Away from lift and stairs is quieter.

We found the Ambassadeur through trip advisor, and a delightful find it was. Our first room was a little cramped, but charming and clean. Our second room, (after requesting something a little larger) had everything you needed for a Paris base. The Metro was close, the 81 bus took us right into the heart of Paris. It is obviously popular with touring groups and in-the-know Parisiennes as it was more or less full all the time. Management was friendly.
Don't rate your hotel by the flashy lobby but what you get for the price you pay.

Room Tip: Sy away from street facing rooms. Look out over the chimney tops of Paris.
