Took my wife on a surprise trip to Paris. I booked a all inclusive deal with Thalys and accomodation for 4 days / 3 nights leaving from Schiphol airport. The deal was fine and we arrived in Paris early afternoon at Gare du Nord trainstation, which is really a 4 minute walk to the hotel, location great and next to the "hop on, hop off bus stop". Very friendly manager in reception. Room was small, but okay street view. Lift was broken so we had to climb the 3 landings all the time. Breakfast was included but we did not use it. Just a small peak at the 'buffet' made us have breakfast around the corner. Rooms generally clean, but attention to detail from housekeeping lacking. We would consider staying here again if for the same purpose and package.

After reading all the reviews on here we were a little dubious about what we had booked for our first trip to Paris together.

The minute we turned up the staff were very friendly and spoke pretty good English.

When we got up to the room it was fine! Small and compact with an en suite, Juliette balcony and double bed. The room its self was a little 'shabby' i.e. carpets old and wallpaper a bit worn but we weren’t there to judge interiors. The bed was clean and very comfortable, the bathroom was spotless and the Juliette balcony was a lovely addition to the warm nights. We left the balcony doors open every night as it was such a warm spell in March and the noises from the front street were more atmospheric than intrusive.

The location is perfect and can not be faulted with a GREAT bar 'Dellys' just a few doors up which we frequented nearly ever night for the week we were there. The Gare De Nord is literally 2 minutes round the corner and there are several metro stations near by which made for the easiest of travel all over the city.

I am sure there are more stylish hotels in the area but you will pay a fortune for some fancy wallpaper which really will not make or break your trip to Paris.

We would 100% go back to this hotel for our next trip to Paris.

We didnt eat at the Hotel as there are so many places around it we wanted to try.

The location of this hotel is top rate, right between two large train stations, Gare de Nord and Gare de Lest, its only 3 blocks between the two. This is a bare bones hotel, with bare bones. Pillows were rolls, rolled into the sheet, no separate pillow cases. Bath room was mildewed. It was cheap and you get what you pay for.

I had read the reviews here on Trip Advisor prior to booking, so knew what to expect. The hotel is a basic budget hotel very close to both Gare Du Nord and Gare De L'Est, and therefore is well served for public transport. The hotel is on a quiet side street, and so doesn't get much noise from passing traffic. It is about a 40 minute walk from the hotel to the real heart of the city, by the Seine, so don't expect to find tourist attractions on the hotel doorstep.

The bedroom was small and clean, with a functional bathroom. The decor was basic. There was a TV and hairdryer. The only thing I felt that was missing from the room was a wall safe.

As with many budget hotels, the walls are not very thick, and so be prepared to have to endure some noise from your neighbours. Luckily the people in the rooms either side of mine were reasonably quiet. I would suggest packing earplugs to be sure.

The windows were double glazed, which helped to keep out sound from the courtyard my room looked out on to. The heating worked efficiently in the room.

The lady on the reception desk, was polite and friendly. I checked out before breakfast, so can't comment on that.

I would recommend this as a basic budget hotel, if you want good access to public transport, and especially if you want easy access to the main train stations (both less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel). The small size of the rooms might get on your nerves after more than a couple of nights. I felt it is comparable to other 2 star hotels that I have stayed in Paris, but is cheapest I have stayed in.

If you want style, glamour and romance, then this will not be the hotel for you. Be prepared to spend a lot more in Paris for that!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the courtyard at the back of the hotel and at the end of the corridor. This should...
