“Good value, bit difficult to find”
Reviewed August 30, 2009

This hotel is on a side-street just off a main road near to the Arc de Triomphe. It is a little tricky to find, but near to the Metro at Terns. The hotel is small, the rooms are reasonable with plasma TV and a kettle. Our bathroom was small, but ok, someone tall might have had trouble getting into or out of the bath, which was a little on the small side. We didn't take breakfast in the hotel, getting fresh bread from the market accross the road which was lovely. The market sells all sorts of fresh food, and as a good sign is full of locals.
The location of the hotel is good, near to the Arc, and the metro service is good. What I particularly liked was that it was just on the edge of the tourst areas, which means you can mingle with the tourists or the locals as the mood takes you. Champs Elysees is about 5 - 10 minutes walk, if you like that sort of thing. The local cafes are quite expensive for coffee and especially tea (around 4 Euro) so it is great that the hotel provide a kettle. They provide free copies of the Inernational Herald Tribune in the lobby, and the English language station is CNN, plus FREE WIFI INTERNET ACCESS!!

this hotel was within a 5 minute walk from the arc de triomphe which had the Charles de Gaulle Etoile Metro stop at it, meaning there were many metro routes coming out of one spot so it was very convenient for traveling all over the city -- there were also a few small patisserie chains (like Paul and others) if you did not partake in the hotel breakfast (we spent about 3 euros a day on breakfast at these chains so it was good value for money)

Our room was on the 5th floor, which you could access by stairs or the elevator (which was small but that is to be expected in Europe, we just went one by one with our cases, and both traveled up at the same time every other trip up)

The room was air conditioned which was very necessary in the August heat and was at a great temperature for every time we returned to the room!

The cleaning staff was great our room was always cleaned when we returned and the bathroom restocked with towels.

The bathrooms were VERY roomy by European standards, had counter space for 2 ladies to keep all of their toiletries, and the shower and tub were quite large.

We had reserved 2 single bed room, these 2 single beds were pushed together to what looked like maybe a king or queen size, the beds were comfortable and there were extra pillows and blankets in the large sized closet if needed. The room was large and clean, with a large sized flat screen TV on the wall, and a small fridge to keep small groceries if you bought them at the store which was less than a minute away on foot! The room had a safe in it, but we were unable to figure out how to use it but that wasn't really an issue. The walls were a little thin, we heard some conversations, but not thin enough to keep us awake at all.

The staff was courteous and helpful from day one, they said hello and goodbye every time we came and went and were genuinely nice people.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Empire Elysees and would (and have) recommended it to anyone!

It was a great place to come back to after long days of walking, and with such a great location it was not too far when we needed to come back and take a break part way through the day.
:)

Booked via expedia.co.uk and got a good price (about €80 per night. The "walk off the street" price for our room was €300). The room was clean, spacious and even had a balcony -- albeit with a view dominated by a nondescript building across the road. Location is great, a few minutes walk to the Arc de Triomphe. Staff were always courteous and helpful. Free internet at the PC in the lobby and free WIFI, although I couldn't get the WIFI to work on my smartphone. Very glad of the effective and quiet air-con in the room when it was hot outside. Area is pretty quiet at night and heavy curtains prevent almost all light from entering the room. Bed was very comfy and large. Nice Creperie, other restaurants and a bakery nearby.

Now the bad bits: Area had more homeless people than in other areas of Paris, but they just keep out of the way, not an issue for us. If you want to sleep beyond 8.30 forget it, cleaners use phones in the hallways to communicate between floors. Sliding door to bathroom was not flush with the wall because of its design. This meant a certain lack of privacy in the bathroom, but on the other hand it did let you watch TV with the door "closed" whilst sat on the throne. So not all bad.

The pluses outweight the negatives and we would certainly consider staying here again.

Having stayed in Paris before at another hotel and from what I've heard others say - this was def. the largest bathroom in a Paris Hotel. The front desk staff was helpful and tried answering our questions as best as they could. Good/strong air conditioner in the room but the only option for guest is either on or off. So I just turned it off mid-way thru the night and the room remained cool. Nice flat TV, desk & chair and decent space to move around the room.
Great location a few steps away from Arch de Triumph and Champ Elysee. I did not try the breakfast there so I cannot comment on it. Instead we grabbed inexpensive breakfast with English speaking & friendly staff at Pomme de Pain by walking out the hotel on the right and making a left at the corner (Avenue Ternes).

I was really upset that I booked a Twin Room but received a room with 2 twin beds pushed together. Upon calling the front desk what I was told was contradictory first by saying that they had no more twin rooms & later saying that what I was given was a twin room, etc. An employee arrived within minutes and she was going to split the beds but given the set-up of the headboard and the amount of space available in the room I just don't know how she planned to do this. So I told her to forget it and leave it that way. Good thing the friend I was traveling with was a very close friend of mine. The elevator was so TINY that I barely fit with our 2 suitcases. The elevator sign says it fits up to 2 people & up to 300lbs but I don't believe it - too tiny. My friend refused to get on the elevator and walked up/down the 4 floors the entire stay. I'm never one to complain about thin walls and such but the proximity of the rooms are too close so whether thin walls or not I couldn't hear people in the other room but I 2 mornings in a row I was rudely awaken by the non-stop ringing of their room phone.

I recommend the champagne tasting cruise with O Chateau but book online or by calling in advance.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights and I definitely recommend it. The only disturbing thing are maybe thin walls between rooms, so if you have very load neighbours, you can hear them. Room was big enough (who comes to Paris to stay in room?), bathroom was clean and looks like on hotel's official photos. Breakfast is up to you (not included in price).

Hotel night staff very nice and helpful.

Quality of an american hotel.

Internet is availaible on one computer for a fee but it was not working while we were there.

Pamphlets available at hotel.

Rooms cleaned daily.

AC in room but for soem reason ours kept on having an error message after being on for too long.
