“great location”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

We enjoyed our stay here- great location, clean rooms. We had a very large group (11 people, 5 rooms) and they did group us, but not all on the same floor which would have been ideal. The rooms are small, and bathrooms VERY small, but they have good noise control which is important given the Latin Quarter location. The breakfast room is small, and it would have been difficult to accommodate our entire group at one time, but the food was very good. Unfortunately they were doing some remodeling during our stay so the stair way was coverd in plastic. The elevator is microscopic, but they handle your luggage so as long as you don't mind the stairs or one at a time in the elevator it is ok. The staff seemed very responsive to needs.

The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and the room was comfortable for the three of us.
The location was excellent and we really enjoyed the breakfast each morning. I would highly recommend the hotel - definitely worth the price!

Everyone visiting Paris will know that it is not easy to find accommodation at a reasonable price in a premium location. In spite of our preconceived ideas about staying at a chain hotel, we decided to take our chances based on the reviews at Trip Advisor. We are extremely happy we did as the hotel was a great choice for our first visit to the City of Lights. Located in the Saint Germain district it is really right in the middle of the Latin quartier. Granted that this is a very touristy area and our concern was that the place was going to be noisy and crowded. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking to one of the little side streets meeting Blvd Saint Michel, where there were a few restaurants. Our room was quiet and we did hear little noise at night in spite of the the nocturne action down below. The room was clean, of a reasonable size for both of us, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had enough space, looked new and everything worked as expected. The Hotel entrance was far from grand, but it was rather discrete which did not bothered us at all. The lobby was small and tight but staff at the checking desk was cordial and very helpful. We arrived kind of early and our room was not ready so we decided to leave our bags and take a stroll visiting Notre Dame. Upon arrival they had taken our bags to our room themselves. Caution: the elevator is tiny, 2 persons without bags barely fit inside. But if dont want to wait for the elevator, going up the stairs isnt much of a problem. Restaurants in the area are rather cheap and on the fast food side, quite a frustration for those looking for real fine French cuisine. However, if you are not too demanding, chances are that you will find the right quality/price ratio for your budget. The Royal St Michel's location is fantastic. There is a metro and train (RER) station right across the street, the boat buses on the Seine are just a bloc away, there is taxi stand around the corner, so no issues re transportation. Renting a car in that area would be a real problem as parking is hard to find. Perhaps what we enjoyed the most was simply walking around the city to many of the nearby attractions. Notre Dame is about 2 blocs away, the Louvre about 20 minutes walk, the Musee d"Orsay another 20 minutes, the numerous other churches in the area are also nearby, the Pompidu Centre across the river is about 20 minutes again. We took a boat to the Eiffel tower and it was a great experience specially when approaching it from the river. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel so I cant comment but the price did not look too bad.

Good Location, Clean, neat and with good breakfast. Free Internet connection.
I was staying on level 6 (top floor) in Summer and as it is on the rooftop, heat is trapped at the top floor and in the roof (when you touch the walls and slanted ceiling, they are warm). Even though windows are opened, heat is radiated from the roof. There is no air-con. I was sweating the minute after shower and perspired even while sleeping. Lower floors were much cooler.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Very convenient for walking and the St Michel metro stop just steps from the door. Other than that, it's nothing special. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Beds were comfortable enough. Busy street, but we didn't have a problem with noise even though we were on the second floor. Rooms tiny (it's Paris, get used to it). We did not have breakfast at the hotel. The hotel staff was accomodating in that we asked them to make dinner reservations. Other than that, we had minimal interaction with them. The only thing that annoyed me is the cleaning staff kept turning off the a/c (it was in the 70s). We would get back late at night and the room would be hot and stuffy, which made falling asleep difficult. Just leave it on people! It costs more to turn it off then have us really crank it when we return!

Honestly, stay at this hotel for the location. Steps from the RER and Metro, and only a few steps farther to Notre Dame. Plenty of places to eat in the area. The rooms are comfortable, just don't expect a lot of space (in line with central Paris).

I have been coming to Paris yearly for the past 20 years. I've stayed in many hotels 4 stars and below. This hotel is good, but not for the first time traveler to Paris. The location is EXCELLENT. The rooms are small and plain, nothing special. They are clean and adequate. The breakfast is good, the staff helpful and English spoken. If you are not looking for the Paris flair, or a romantic trip and need a nice, average place to stay for a few short days, this would be the hotel. The elevator is for 1 person ONLY.
