Stayed 2 nights at Libertel Gare du Nord Suede, stayed on top floor in room 701. This room has the best view up towards Monmartre and Sacre Coeur and across to the Eiffel Tower. A great find of a hotel. Rooms scrupulously clean and have a funky feel. Room 701 also has it's own balcony opening out to Rue Magenta. Only 3 mins from either Gare du Nord or Gate du Est. Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here overnight because of its proximity to Gare du Nord as we had an early start on the Eurostar the next morning. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded, but at 170 euros we would have expected at least that. It was very clean and minimalist but nowhere to hang the towels in the bathroom. Neither were there bedside tables for a book or a glass of water, only a ledge above the bed, which was a little too high for me.
When we arrived, the room smelt of cigarette smoke, not too wonderful if you are a non-smoker.
Having said that, we found the room very comfortable and the staff helpful.

very nice and modern. we had Nespresso machine in our room, which was great.
the location was good. friendly staff. We got our room for 90 euro the first night but the rate increased for the following nights so we had to switch.
but the short stay was pleasant.

Room Tip: corner rooms seem bigger

I stayed in this hotel for one night on my way from Luxembourg to Provence via Paris. Excellent value for money. It is quite conveniently located with 5 minutes walking distance from Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord. The area around railway stations is not very nice, but it is easy to reach city center (20 min walk to Opera and Grand Boulevards or take a metro). The price at Booking com was unbelievably low, below EUR 100, but the hotel offered everything one would need, the room, although tiny, was clean and well equipped, including tea/coffee-making facilities, the WIFI very fast and free. Would definitely recommend to single travellers.

I booked this hotel strictly for travel purposes. I needed to get out early from the Gare du Nord and this fit the bill. 2 blocks around I booked online through a different service but I was still concerened because there are some dicey hotels in the area. This is not a hotel for an American family of four unless you're used to travelling in Europe a lot. The rooms are very small; remind me of Japanese airport hotel rooms. But they are very clean, everything you need is there, the lobby is modern and the staff was polite and helpful. Moreover, the price - if you shop around - was very reasonable. If you pack rack rate, you won't like it so much. Rue Magenta is a busy street but I asked for a room off the street. Not a bad or good area, just sort of neutral. Head southeast on Magenta and you'll hit St. Denis which will take you to the center - about 20 to 30 minutes on foot.

Room Tip: Get a room off the street if possible.

We booked this hotel because we were travelling to/from gare du nord and it was very well located for this. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms, although compact were very clean. They did miss cleaning our room when we arrived back earlier once during our 3 night stay, but this was quickly rectified. The bathrooms and showers were particularly small and there was limited space to hang up towels. We did not try the hotel breakfast as we felt this was overpriced, but there are lots of other cafes and restaurants in the area worth going to.
