“Marvellous budget hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

Stayed for a weekend to watch the rugby and found it clean and modern when I arrived. It's a 5 minute easy walk from the Gare du Nord, which makes it a fantastic location for transport.

My room was small, as are a lot of hotel rooms in Paris, but as I was not staying in my room for 2 days that was not a worry! The extra 12 euro for breakfast per day was a bargain, as it was buffet style and delicious. Staff were unfailingly helpful, sorting my wifi and leaving bags on my final day. All in all I would recommend this hotel as a good budget option in central Paris.

To those who moan - wanting free breakfasts, fluffy towels and huge rooms for 100 euro a night - which century are you lot living in? The George V (or where David Beckham is staying at present) are both available for all that, but prepare to sell your house to pay for it all. Until then, quit grumbling and be realistic about hotel facilities v cost.

Room Tip: Choose one at the back of the hotel, to avoid any traffic noise.

Rooms are small but fine for one night. Very clean and good price. Was a little noisy as could hear water running through a pipe but no where is that quiet in Paris. Best to ask for a room facing the inner courtyard as hotel is on a busy road

Stayed here for the weekend whilst in Paris. It was great that the hotel was allocated walking distances from the Gare du Nord station. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I booked a family room for 3 people. The room was cosy and big enough for 3. However 2 single beds pushed together to make a double bed. The room was clean, although one bed had stained bedsheets which the staff changed ASAP. The buffet cost approx 12 euros each therefore we didn't stay for breakfast. And went out to various coffee shops to eat. As there were many different restaurants and diners to eat from.
The tour bus stop was also walking distance from the hotel which made it ideal esp. after a long day of sightseeing. Overall the hotel was great, would stay here again and would recommend to others.

Small hotel less than 5 mins walk from gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est.

Very pleasant and helpful reception staff (spoke good English)

Rooms small but comfortable beds and effective sound proofing of the windows (on a busy road).

Great if needing to stay prior or after a to a Eurostar journey but would feel cramped for a few days.

Walkable to Montmatre and plenty of bars and rstaurants and patisseries around. Be warned though, the bars close to Gare du Nord have rip off beer prices.

Room Tip: 502 is a family room with a sofa

Thank you for your post on Tripadvisor.
We love to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and the surroundings of the hotel.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience that you suffered.
Our hotel is located in the heart of Paris, we're sorry that it did not meet your requirements in terms of peace. In order to satisfy our customers up to our rooms have double glazing and are newly renovated.

We paid particular attention to the sound insulation (double glazing, seal, etc.). However, we are aware that for those very sensitive to noise, some nights might be a nuisance.

We look forward welcoming you again soon to the Hotel libertel Gare du Nord-Suède and do remain at your disposal.

This is a comfortable clean small hotel. Check in was fine although the lady should have checked if I could actually speak French considering I had a British passport and she talked fir 5 min non stop!!! That's very Parisian though but if you cannot understand French just ask for some English they normally do speak several languages. This hotel advertises that English is spoken. She did talk about how to connect to Wifi for free which is great and I no longer stay at any hotel if its not free in this day and age.
The room I stayed in was a single bedded room on the second floor. The room although very small is well finished and has obviously quite newly decorated. Poor lady next door had a terrible cough in the middle of the night so soundproofing is not great. If you are looking for big fluffy towels nice soaps etc then bring your own. It's still adequate with their amenities. This hotel looked after my backpack in a locked room as I had a meeting I could not carry it to which was great.
The breakfast is an extra €12 which is a shame they do not offer as part of any package ats really I only wanted a quick bite then off. When I returned to pick up my bag the staff suggested I booked through their own web site for a better deal and not a web agent like booking.com. I always check both and in fact booking.com was cheaper!!! If you need a bed for the night it is perfect only 5 min walk from Guard du Nord although not the best area and you would need to be careful at night. Plenty of restaurants around. Not a hotel for a romantic visit to Paris but perfect for business or site seeing. If you have connections to the two main airports or anywhere in the city it's perfect as the RER and Metro tracks are all here.

This is a really nice hotel within easy walking distance of the Gare du Nord and the Eurostar. I had a single room which was small, but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The only drawback for a largish person is that it is a very tight squeeze between the bathroom handbasin and the shower recess. I'm only tiny so it wasn't a problem, but all the same, a bit of a squeeze. The room was quiet. As for the receptionists, they were very very friendly and helpful which helped to make my few days in Paris so special. I was with my cousin who had a larger room than mine and she too was delighted with her stay. We dined every night at the Beret Basque restaurant, which is just around the corner from the hotel and serves great food. All in all a wonderful experience.

Stayed here for three nights whilst on a long weekend to Paris. Rooms are quite small and have an awkward layout, but they are comfortable. I had a single room to myself which was comfortable as I didn't have too much luggage, however my father and step-mother were in a double which was a bit of a squeeze. If you are not spending a lot of time in the hotel i think it is acceptable, and the hotel is about a 20-30 minute walk from LaFayette shopping Mall and 5-10 minute from the Gare du Nord.
Hotel was reasonably clean, although the shower drain smelt of sewage slightly when the shower door was open.
One negative comment is that there isn't much sound proofing between rooms and corridor!
