“Perfect Honeymoon in Paris”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2008

Everything we had read before we went commented on what a good location the hotel is, and it is completely true. We had never been before but quickly realized how conveniently located it is. We walked to the Arc de Triomph, Champs Elysees, and the Eiffel Tower. It is also close by to two Metro stations (Boissiere {sp??} is closest).

All of the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They all spoke English well. They were helpful in explaining how to get around on the Metro and worked with us when we were a day late due to bad weather. (They gave us a refund for our lost day even though they didn't have to do so).

Our room was impeccably clean and tidy. It wasn't huge by American standards, but it was just fine. It was tastefully decorated, and the bed was more comfortable than most hotel beds I've slept on.

I would definitely skip their breakfast though. For 10 euro ($14) you get a few breakfast breads and coffee or juice. You'll get a better deal and quality at one of the several surrounding cafes. Also, stock up on snacks and water at the store right next door. We saved a ton of
money by getting these things there rather than taking them from the mini-bar or buying them while sight-seeing.

Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations. We had and absolutely perfect honeymoon and our choice of hotel made it even better.

My wife, daughter and I stayed six nights at the Elysees Union over Christmas 2007.
The best part about the hotel had to be the location. It is an easy walk to the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Batobus (water taxi). Three metro stations were within a 5 minute walk.
Although other reviews have mentioned problems with the staff, we had no problems. All of the staff was helpful and polite.
The room was small, maybe 12 X 15 not including the bathroom. We had booked a triple room and they gave us a room with two twin beds and a roll away bed. Not what I would call a triple, but because the windows opened to a small balcony from which we could easily view the Eiffel tower, we did not complain.
The shower was a problem. You basically have a bathtub with a shower attachment. There is a glass partition that only encloses one side of the tub. No matter how careful you are, you end up splashing water on the floor. Plan to use two of your hand towels just to mop up the floor.
Depending upon how you book the room, breakfast may or may not be included. If not included, it will cost you 10 Euros. This is a little high if you eat in the dining room, but have them send the breakfast to the room. At least then, the left over fruit, yogurt, etc. can be stored in the small room refridge.
Overall we were more than satisfied with the hotel for the price paid as compared to other Paris Hotel prices. We would stay at the hotel again if we return to Paris.

Three of us stayed here for 3 nights over weekend. Location of hotel is brilliant-we could see E.Tower from window. Very central for what we wanted to visit. Metro very nearby. Hotel was clean and staff were excellent-could not do enough for us. Would definately reccommend this hotel.

and we never regreted our choice. The staff is helpful and sympathetic and fluent in English and Spanish. One of the clerks is conversant in Arabic. The espresso coffee is heavenly. The staff makes special arrangements to accomodate older people. Yes! There is an elevator. The Hotel is within 5 blocks of the Tour Eiffel and the Arc de Triumph. There is a produce market next door and at least 6 restaurants within three blocks. There is a pharmacie: 2 blocks, a book store: three blocks. ATM: across the street. Popular tours offer Hotel pickup for minivan tours. There is a comfortable Lobby. Desire a ham and cheese omolet for breakfast? Visit their downstairs restaurant ! Room 11 is cozy and the window looks out on an inner courtyard. We had our own bathroom. My wife adds: the bed is comfortable, the water is hot and has good pressure, There is a color TV and everything is clean. There is a computer for rent and the Hotel advertises free WiFi.

Paris was our first stop on our trip to Europe and it was so great to have a nice, comfortable hotel close to the main attractions in Paris (i.e. Eiffel tower and arc de triomphe) we could see the Eiffel tower from the front of the hotel! our metro station was about a 2 min. walk away. The rooms are smaller, just right for a couple, the nice shower was a favorite. The staff was SO nice, really helpful! They took care of all our luggage for us. Everything was really clean and nice, well taken care of. The lobby and waiting areas are really classy and there is a nice courtyard too. Perfect place to stay in Paris...

Elysees Union - Paris 9 November 07
We have just returned from our trip to Paris to celebrate my wifes 60th Birthday . Our party consisted of 6 people and we all enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Elysees Union where we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, some may say on the small side, but this was not a problem when you want to spend time exploring Paris. The local restuarants we found to be excellent and friendly and as the hotel is positioned between the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe you could not be better positioned for exploring Paris.
The Metro is just round the corner and is the best way to navigate around the city.
We will certainly return to Paris and would not hesitate to recommend staying at the Elysees Union.

Quite easy to find after I was dropped off by the Arc de Triumphe by the Air France shuttle (highly recommend this way to and from Charles De Gaulle airport.) Staff was very friendly and helpful. I was able to get a street facing room so I was able to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle if I leaned out of my window - so cool!! As others have said - yes, room small, in need of new comforter, carpeting, elevator needs some work, etc, but the positives outweigh those cosmetic issues. The hotel seemed worn but clean and the bathroom was good size and the water pressure and warmth was great. The water might have tasted fine, but I just bought a few big bottles from the market next door, along with some oranges and yogurt that I kept in the mini bar. You should definitely check out the market to look at all the different stuff - fun. Eiffel Tower is a bit more of a hike than 15 minutes (and I walk fast) but it is worth it - for the postcard perfect scene of the tower from the Trocadero AND for the freshly made chocolate crepes - do not miss out on these! Strangely enough I had the best hot dog I have ever had from a cart across from the tower - placed in the most perfect 'baguette' - strange but true. The 10 Euro breakfast was ok, but not for the price in my opinion. I wasn't impressed with the restaurants nearby, so eat when you are out sightseeing. By the way if you go in the late fall or winter - be prepared - it is cold walking around (and I'm from Wisconsin!) Bring your gloves and scarf or better yet buy a few scarves when you are there. I especially liked the souvenir shops across the Seine from Notre Dame. Overall the hotel was in a very good, quiet, safe location at a very reasonable price - I would recommend it!
