I had looked forward to returning to the Colbert after a wonderful stay several years ago, but am sorry to say that the quality of the hotel has declined under the Melia management. The cost of the rooms has increased significantly, but the service, cleanliness, maintenance, and overall quality are now worse. The location is great, but there are other hotels nearby with much lower prices where I will stay on the next visit to Paris. The breakfast was very complete as well as expensive and, at times, crowded, which was not worthwhile with less expensive and more attractive alternatives at every turn in the area. After a long trip the welcome drink was appreciated; however, it would have been really helpful if the ladies' room in the lobby had a light in it so that it could be used upon arrival rather than waiting a hour or more for the bulb to be changed after multiple requests. I still love Paris, but this visit was not enhanced by the hotel stay.
