“Great Hotel!”
Reviewed November 30, 2009

From the moment we walked in the door we knew this hotel was right for us. The front desk staff was warm, friendly and best of all for us they spoke English. Our room was on the sixth floor and was easy to access via the elevator, room was small but very comfortable for our needs. We had requested a King bed so of course it took up more space, the bed was very comfortable, there was an extra blanket and pillows in the closet so we didn't have to request them. A mini bar and safe was also there for our convenience. The entire hotel was very clean and the house keeping staff were all smiles everytime we saw them. The bath was cleaned and refreshed daily including the amenities (shampoo, soap, bath saltz). A convenient hairdryer was also provided. The optional breakfast was 12.00 Euro per person and to expensive for us, we only wanted coffee and a pastry so we went around the corner to the bakery. It was a short walk to the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees (less than 5 min). We would definately stay at this hotel and also tell friends about it. I worked in the travel industry for over 20 years and have experienced many hotels. The price was exceptionaly good for Paris and the great location.

We stayed in one of the suites from 16th November 2009 for 3 nights. The bedroom was ample big enough with a flat screen TV and comfy bed. The living area had a desk, TV and sofa bed in. Ideal for a quick chill out between day and night-time exploration of the city. Not sure if it goes throughout the hotel but we had free Wi-Fi access in the room. The rooms were wonderfully clean and the hotel oozes original Parisien features - so much nicer than staying in a sterile chain hotel. The staff are great - were very helpful in guiding us to buy museum passes, show bookings etc. Their English is excellent but they did indulge us as we tried to speak French. I had forewarned them that I had booked as a surprise for my husband's birthday and on arrival there was a complimentary bottle of Champagne in the room, a really lovely gesture. And they even wished him happy birthday as we set out for an evening out. We didn't have breakfast there. It's 12 euros each for continental and there are LOTS of small cafes and croissanteries within a 100 yard radius where you can enjoy the same for half the price whilst watching the world (and crazy traffic) go by. The location is brilliant - it's a 2 minute walk to the Metro (Charles de Gaulle de Etoile) and the Arc de Triomphe. You can see the Eiffel Tower from the top of the street. We were there when France and Algeria got through their stages at the football - the Arc was crazy with hundreds, if not thousands, of fans singing, letting off fireworks etc. and the traffic was grid-locked. We made an early retreat from the city that night and enjoyed a bottle of wine in the room. The double glazing is superb - once the windows were closed you wouldn't have known what was going on a hundred yards away. A couple of money-saving tips - at the top of the street on the opposite side of Ave Wagram is a wine shop - lots of choice starting at 3 euros a bottle so if you're on a budget or don't want to shell out hotel/ bar prices (20-30 euros for run of the mill wine) then pay a visit here. Check out the "Formules" at the restaurants and bars, especially at lunchtime. You can get a 2 or 3 course meal for 10-20 euros per person. Don't bother with taxis or transfer coaches - you can buy a ticket for the train & metro to get you to the hotel for 8.5 euros. The ticket machines at the airports take cards and are easy to use or you can queue for the ticket office. Take the train from CDG on RER B (blue line), change at Chatelet for the metro and the hotel is 2 minutes from the metro station, exit 4 - Av. Wagram Looking at the traffic, especially around the Arc & Champs-Ellyses it's probably much quicker too. if you're going to check out more than 3 or 4 main sights then consider getting a museum pass which can be bought in the FNAC department store- the hotel staff will give you directions. It gives you access to most of the main monuments and museums (louvre, musee d'orsay, musee de rodin, arc de triomphe, notre dame crypts, egouts de paris etc.) and stops you having to queue for tickets at most places.
We loved our short stay in Paris and have vowed to return - we will definitely choose the Royal Magda again and would recommend it to anyone.

Found this hotel on trip advisor, and we were not disappointed. Great central location near the Arc de Triomphe and Metro Charles de Gaulle.
Room and bathroom are compact but clean and efficient ( great shower)
The major bonus is getting breakfast. Paris is pricey and it just sets you up for the morning - tea/coffee/juice/fruit/cereal/breads/cheeses etc.
The staff are lovely; very friendly and helpful and speak english ( and other languages I'm sure)
There's a great cafe if you are in the area at lunchtime - exit the hotel and turn left . Its at the end of the road . Fantastic selection of salads/quiches/lasagnes/cakes. Aimed at the offices workers so real bargain!

Lovely little hotel just down a sidestreet from the Arc d'Triumph. The metro station is a 2 minute walk away.
It was cold when we visited in November but the Hotel was soo cosy and its so funky too! The staff were so very helpfull and gave us directions, helped us book shows and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The hotel has a lovely cosy little breakfast rrom and breakfast was available right through til 12 midday!!! never known that before. It was a buffet style breakfast with fresh french bread and pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit etc etc... spolit for choice.
The rooms were small but that wasn't a problem, there was always hot water and the shower was really powerfull.
The only thing I wouldn't recommend would be the room service.. don't bother its a bit rubbish and really expensive, oh and it took almost 2 hours to arrive?

We chose the Royal Magda Etoile Hotel based on it's price and the rave TripAdvisor reviews. Those reviews were very accurate. It's such a lovely and cosy hotel. Staff were as friendly as described in the reviews and the location is just perfect. It's only about a 3 minute walk to the Metro station 'Charles De Gaulle Etoille' (use the Wagram exit /sortie). The Arc de Triomphe is just down the road - This is my favourite Paris site and a very underrated attraction. The well earned view from the top is breathtaking and definitely worth the effort of climbing all those stairs. As the hotel is so close we went up twice - in the day and the night to get two very distinct views of the Paris panorama.

Rooms are snug by world standards but ample by Paris standards - large enough for all your bedroom needs. The dining room is very elegant as is the lobby. The lift (elevator) has room for two only - and any flatulence could be fatal ! Any big-boned guests may want to use the stairs.

Avenue de Wagram has plenty of reasonably priced dining options. All in all the area is one of the better ones in Paris and we felt very safe walking around at night (unlike some areas around the Gare de Nord - which are well dodgy)

I would strongly recommend the Royal Magda Etoile for a stay in Paris - it was superb in every way and made our trip to Paris a delight.

This hotel has very frendly employees. The services is good. The room was clean en compleet with everything you 'll need. Also the quality of the bed was fine.
We realy liked the breakfast (free for children).
The central place of the hotel, near by station Charles de Gaulle-Etoile (with 4 metro/RER-lines) and 3 minutes from the Arc the Triomphe, makes this the perfect place to stay, when you want to discover Paris.

Good hotel, fantastic staff, very good location looking to the map - close to underground with direct line to Disneyland, a lot of restaurants (our favorite was Italian :), only one minus - located in small street, which is a little bit dirty...
