We stayed here in April this year as my partner's company uses this hotel for a large bi-annual conference. On our last stay we were left unimpressed with the finishing touches in the newly refurbished rooms and also attitude of some of the staff.

I'm pleased to report however that on this stay the staff were much more willing to help with small issues and they seem to have addressed some of the problems experienced with the rooms previously.

Room was spotless, well maintained and a good size (standard room). Plenty of storage, safe in the closet along with sewing kit etc. Nice toiletries, free travel toothbrush and paste available on request. Robe and slippers in the bathroom. Also found the rooms very quiet which allowed for a great night sleep - no noise from neighbouring rooms or corridor at all. We were also on the 5th floor and couldn't hear anything from the road outside. Great blackout curtains too!

Breakfast was a much friendlier experience this time - I do think however that they could invest in a toaster and there were only very limited fresh fruit options. Really good croissants and nice bread.

We enjoyed the fillet steak on room service during our stay and this was truly magnificent. A table for two was wheeled to the room which also meant we avoided the messy situation of knowing where to eat when a tray lands on the bed.

Some tips:

Move the kettle from beside the bed. It's awkward to get at and dangerous. We had an accident with this reaching for some water in the night and all of the electrics ended up soaked.

Stock up from the supermarkets. There are two supermarkets seconds from the hotel door. Turn either left or right as you leave the hotel and get all of your basics (fruit, water, snacks, fresh milk) at a much better rate than the ridiculously priced mini bar (small bottle of water €6.50!)
There is room to place a small carton of milk, lying down on top of the drinks already in the mini bar without upsetting the sensors.

If you want an ironing board, allow plenty of time for it to arrive! Just as last time I waited almost an hour for it - they are not automatically provided in most hotels in France.

The lifts are shocking. There are four lifts servicing the lower floors of the hotel, however during our stay two of these were out of service - the staff didn't seem to be in any hurry to get this resolved. Allow extra time if you have to be downstairs for a particular time for meetings/taxis etc.

If you fancy some fresh air (and well you might, the windows don't open which can feel a bit claustrophobic) turn left out of the hotel. As you walk around the traffic island, look to your right and you get a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. You can even walk to it if you like (about 35 mins).

This isn't a small, quaint Parisian hotel in a charming part of town - it's a large corporate tower block which deals largely in conferences and coach parties. With the benefit of the station opposite you can be anywhere in Paris fairly quickly. Manage your expectations on this score and you'll be fine.

And a note for the hotel whilst the refurb is ongoing.. Please put an electrical socket by the mirror in the room. Hair straighteners don't work in the razor socket in the bathroom and there is no other option.

FINAL TIP: If you're visiting Paris, remember that ALL restaurants legally include service in the bill. Tips aren't necessary but it's customary to give 1-2 Euro to acknowledge good service. If you're just having a drink somewhere 50 centimes is normal.

The room was so nice and clean on executive floor as they provide nespresso in room for us. Our room did not include breakfast but we had almost everyday as many choice of food and restaurant staff was so nice and take care. We will be there again for next trip.

We stayed in room 1401, it seems to have been refurbished recently. Comfy bed, decent shower, everything you would want from a hotel. It's over the road from Gare Montparnasse, and a five minute walk from montparnasse bienvenue metro station. It links to quite a few metro lines, so even if it is slightly out of the centre of Paris, getting around from the hotel is very easy. We ate in "le petit sommelier" near the hotel, I highly recommend it. The montparnasse tower gives lovely views of Paris, and I suggest going on the hour to catch the Eiffel Tower lit up.
