Being in Paris for a 2 days romantic trip, I wanted to offer a special evening to my beloved one. Many famous restaurants were closed for this week-end that came just after 2 business holidays so I just opened the Guide Michelin looking for an opened 2 stars restaurant, starting from letter A...
This restaurant opened a few months ago, along with the 5 stars "Shangri-La" hotel which hosts it. By the way, the hotel alone is worth a little visit!
But lets talk about the meal. Well it was just... amazing! The chef Philippe Labbé has really done a very good job in finding the right balance between culinary invention, equilibrium in tastes, excellence in execution, presentation... The wine, a "modest" 2010 Chateau-Neuf du Pape, was a killer and I had to look twice and ask to talk to the sommelier to believe that the 16 degree reading on the bottle could be right!

Before arriving in Paris, I've done a bit of research on the Michelin Stars restaurant we want to visit this trip. I made a reservation 1 month in advance with L'Abeille. However, really not knowing what to expect and if that's the right choice for us as we really looking forward to a truly special night for our visit in Paris.
Arrived in the restaurant on 10th May 2013 and being the first customers, I was blown away by the warm welcome and the high standard of service that one should expect from a classy restaurant such as this. I really disagree with one of the comment that a reviwer has made that their service was ceremonial. Their service is definitely world class and really outstanding, which most of the restaurants should come and learn with their attentiveness, professionalism and every single attention to details for the customers.
Food is as mind blowing as you should expect with the perfection of execution on flavors, the combination of ingredients to the presentation on the plate, nothing is short but perfection. From Amuse Bouche to entrée to the main dish, from cleanser to dessert, we had the most incredible experience of how a 2 Stars Michelin Stars restaurant should cook and service.
A special recommendation if you love lamb. Try the Milk Fed lamb for 2 people which was truly amazing and delicious. Slow cook in 62 degrees temperature and 72 hours, I can assure you that this would be the most beautiful meat you have ever eaten with such juicy, succulent, soft and flavorsome, top quality lamb, it just melts in your mouth. Enjoy that beautiful taste from such beautiful, well cooked lamb.
If you want a true, high quality restaurant experience, L'Abeille is the place to come. Here you learn what is called Food and Art, delicious and very elegantly presented plates. Customer Service is absolute top notch, every service person here is occupied with in-depth food knowledge of their ingredients, menu, provide excellent recommendations to your liking. Very professional Sommelier to match the right wine to the food you order. Take into account of every single details @ L'Abeille.
It's a very very special and incredible experience visiting this amazing restaurant in Paris.

It's easy to get jaded by restaurants in France. On top of that, Paris is a separate habitat: overpriced, overrated, overly snotty - but it doesn't have to be.

'The Bee' has x strikes going against it: it's a hotel-based restaurant in a chichi part of town. It looks formal. It surely smells being very expensive. Yet we had the best recent experience there of all the Parisian upscale restaurants in a decade (and that includes the duck at A Senderens two years ago.) Sublime, all the team including the chef working hard to justify their recent star evaluations.

It is 1 or 2 stars but it could be 3 - at least our evening there was flawless and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. what a treat. Wine list too was surprisingly good considering the newness of the restaurant. Nice surprise overall.

We had a wonderful experience at L'Abeille. Stylish and extravagant, and the food is first class gourmet. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing, which amounts to about € 1000 (taken into account aperitif and coffee). Expensive, but worth the experience (in true french manners, the ladies are given menus without prices).
