Description: La Bauhinia offers a unique ambience in the heart of the hotel. Inspired by the bauhinia flower, the restaurant is a reminder of Shangri-La Hotel's roots in Asia. Crowning the restaurant is a stunning glass 'cupola', designed by the renowned architect Maurice Gras, which bathes the restaurant in light. French and Asian dishes served at La Bauhinia maintain a respect of cultures in their authentic flavours. Enjoy also a grand selection of wines, and experience afternoon tea in the Asian tradition, with delicate pastries and speciality teas.

The decor of the restaurant was very nice, and the service was good. We were looking forward to having a great first meal of the year but the food was so disappointing. The meal started with a buffet- we tried nearly everything. The sushi was one of the worst I have ever eaten, the best thing about the appetiser buffet was the smoked salmon and cold cuts, but it was nothing special. Then came the second course, the eggs were overcooked, the seafood platter was standard. Third course was a traditional French dish- which was over-salted and the curry was terrible. The dessert buffet was boring and the cakes were awful. And for the price of 125€ per person(The price included a glass of champagne/wine)?! We felt like we should be paid to eat that meal! Buying food from cheap bakeries around Paris would satisfy you way more than this overpriced restaurant. Avoid at all cost if you are looking to have a tasty meal.

The room is amazing and the food was delicious. I especially liked the fruit salad and porridge. The great communication with the concierge and restaurant staff, meant that I could organise my next plans very easily and promptly.

The restaurant is so beautiful and calm. It's Oriental decor very elegant.
A great menu simply explained with no flowery words. The spice menu is fabulous. Fish cooked to perfection.
Our waiter was perfectly versed in the menu and wines with just the right humour. Great suggestions.

we tried La Bauhinia for a romantic dinner last week. The setting is magnificent and the service is really 5-star. However the food is less tasty (my "Otak Otak" cod fish was barely cooked) than in less pricey thai restaurants such as Le Comptoir de Thiou or Lilly Wang. The wine is priced outrageously high compared to other Parisian palaces. Choose a table ar the center or the room to avoid being near one of the service doors

Good Asian food for Western palate, beautiful room with balconies and rotunda. The service is nice but extremely slow.
La Bauhinia is quite expensive for a relatively simple fare. For a slightly higher price the other Chinese restaurant, Shang Palace, is a better choice.
