Before I booked this hotel I was rather apprehensive after reading the reviews. Still, I booked and took my chance and my apprehension was confirmed upon arrival. The hotel entrance was extremely small, not to mention the reception desk and area. However, after receiving my room keys and heading for the elevator I was pleasantly surprised to find the back room resembling that of an old English country club. Roaring open fire, albeit fake, wing backed high chairs and a literary assortment of Historical English books fit for any library.
Next the room, as usual with Paris standards, rather cramped, but very nice all the same. The one down point, if any, was the fact that the bathroom was again very small and very very cold. The bathroom floor being covered in slate like tiles was as cold as the winter weather outside. All in all a very pleasant experience, would I recommend this hotel? Yes, but go for a Superior room to avoid a tight squeeze, room 104 was perfect with twin beds. Good luck

Room Tip: Room 104 was rather nice.

Intro:
Like very often the service quality has a negative impact on the whole stay, even if accommodation and F/B are good.

For business reason I am quite often in Paris and I usually stay around this area (8th). It was my first stay in Paris in this hotel and I was positively surprised.
Location is great the hotel is near to place madeleine, louvre, the champs elysee,.... Public basement parking is within 5 minutes by foot, Metro station directly in front of the hotel.

As usually in Paris the rooms are quite small, but thanks to the modern architecture and the enormous bathroom it was one of the most beautiful hotels I saw in Paris till now. The welcoming was friendly and competent.

+ Beautiful and clean room
+ Free WiFi
+ Variety of choices from the breakfast buffet

- The metro trains can be heard in the rooms
- Service staff extremely unfriendly, especially the ladies from the breakfast service where talking loudly about their private life and weekend planning in a very disturbing manner
- Elevator is blocked for long periods when the cleaning ladies are working

The Hotel Opal could not be better situated, in one of the most central and exclusive areas of Paris. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed with great rooms and excellent bathrooms. After check-in we noticed that there was a problem with the shower door, but this was quickly attended to, and we were immediately moved to another room without fuss.
Booked through Splendia and got great rates. I would definitely recommend and will no doubt return!

Room Tip: the higher the better as you may hear the metro rumble below- although this didn't detract from...

Spent 4 nights here recently, we were very pleased with both the hotel and the location. There is a small bar in the hotel, we had drinks in there one evening. I'd booked a superior room, and it was a good size. Nice modern decor, and it was kept spotlessly clean. Staff all very helpful and everyone I dealt with spoke good English. Would definitely stay there again, and recommend it to others.

We can recommend the Opal-Hotel.The Hotel is located centrally in Paris with two Metrostations close by so it is easy to use public transportation. Louvre , Opera and Gallerie Lafayette are in walking distance.

Stayed here in September for one night on business. Primary benefit of this hotel is its location, as others have said. It's a small hotel with an easy-to-miss entrance, so keep your eyes open. All public spaces very clean, smart and well furnished. My room was relatively small but the space was used very well so it actually felt much roomier than it really was. Nice bathroom. I was on about the third floor I think, windows opened out onto the street which gave a nioce view and wasn't as noisy as I expected. Just a couple of downsides. First, couldn't get the WiFi connection to work at all. Second, there is no bar or restaurant in the hotel. Although there are lots of places that you can go nearby, I prefer to have a bar and restaurant in the hotel where I stay, which is just a personal preference and why I give it three stars instead of four. All in all though this is a good hotel.
