“PERFECT LOCATION IN PARIS”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

There cannot be a better location in Paris. Just steps from Notre Dame but the neighborhood is relatively tourist and crowd free. Room was nice, very clean, a bit small but I am told that is typical for Paris. Very nice local restaurants: liked Cafe Med the best. Great local shops. Some of the staff were a little stern but I guess that is typically French. Most were very nice. I agree with Robyn W about the soft pillows. Breakfasts were very nice but a little steep at 13 euros.

We stayed here in October of 2010 (not November 2012 as indicated -- that was as far back as it would allow me to go) on our trip of a lifetime to Paris. It is a lovely "boutique" hotel in a perfect location, right behind and across the bridge from Notre Dame. We were on the second floor and our windows opened up onto the quaint little street filled with shops, bistros, bars, etc. Once we returned to the USA, I discovered that I had somehow left my digital camera in the hotel room. I emailed the hotel and believe it or not, housekeeping had found it and turned it in. They shipped it back to me via FedEx (at my cost, of course). Talk about customer service! How easy it would have been for the housekeeper to have taken the camera as her own. If/when we ever get to return to Paris, we will FOR SURE stay here again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the street side, so that you can enjoy the ambience of Paris!

As soon as we drove up to the hotel, walked in and met Bernard, I knew that we had made the right choice for our overnight stop in Paris. Having stayed in Paris many many times in the Marais, we thought we would try a new location. Didn't disappoint! Lots of bars, cafes, bistros and interesting shops. Quiet in the evening as well. Room was a good size, (we were in 501), beautifully appointed in a "french way", and nice to have a bath. My only criticism was the noisy air-con in the room. "Sleep" button did not work, so had to call front desk. They could not figure out what to do either, so had to shut it down. There is no way you could sleep with it on. Breakfast was good, tucked away in the cellar. Nice to have a good WiFi signal as well. Bed comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Fantastic location to walk to everything in Paris - the cafe on the corner called St Louis is fantastic - quintessentially French!! Just don't ask for jam when you want marmalade. Gorgeous street location - great shops and all on the island. Rooms were small but what you'd expect in France - only gripes were super soft pillows and the safe broke on a daily basis. Staff lovely.

Yes, the room was not big, but don't forget you're in Paris! Very clean and everything is new! Romantic and QUIET!! Petit dejeuner in the cellar ... Super! All the staff is super friendly! Close from Notre Dame parking. I recommend this place!

We have stayed on the Ile St Louis 5 times in the last 20 years. We have also been in 4 of the 5 hotels on the Ile. Perhaps it is that I am older (64 today), but the excellent location of a hotel is not enough anymore. We arrived having made our reservation 11 months ago and having paid a substantial deposit. We were told that they did not have the superior room that we had reserved and that we would have to take a standard room for 1 night. After an argument about what a paid reservation really is, my husband negotiated a free breakfast for our disappointment. The room was tiny, even by Paris standards. The bed was a double and we are not little people.
The following day a superior room became available. It was OK. They need to upgrade their sparse, dingy towels. We ate breakfasts down at the St. Regis Brasserie at the corner. It was about the same price as the hotel breakfast in the hot, stuffy cellar and they have the most delightful waiters.
If my husband continues to insist on the Ile St Louis location, I will have to insist on the 4 star Jeu de Palme and pay the extra.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Saint Louis en L'Isle and were enchanted We had a great room in the top with a slrge bed which our agent had organised, having stayed here herself, so can recommend requesting this if it's available. Perfect location in the epicentre of this 17th century medieval village, which empties at days end so only the people actually staying on the island remain - it's not a thoroughfare for any other area, but you can easily hop over to the Marais, the left bank, or Ile de la Cite in a moment. Breakfast was superb - don't even think of going to a cafe when food of this quality is just downstairs. The bed was comfy, the views from the windows superb, and the bathroom modern and roomy. Suck your tummy in going up in the lift with anyone else but no more than other lifts in buildings of this age. A perfect spot - so peaceful, but right in the hub. Berthillon icecream opposite, and wonderful restaurants all down the street. Would go back in a shot!

Room Tip: Ask for the larger room with the larger bed on the top floor
