I stayed at the Hotel de Lutece with my 14 year old daughter in April. We had stayed previously (and subsequently) at the "sister" hotel, Hotel des Deux Iles, which is close by in the same street.

For some observations on the neighborhood, which we love, please take a look at my review of the Hotel des Deux Isles. The two hotels are very similar. Hotel de Lutece may be a little bit nicer and is a few Euro more a night. In both cases the rooms are tiny, the closets tinier and the bathrooms relatively large. The hotels are both clean and well-kept and the staff at the "front desk" (literally a desk near the door) is friendly and helpful.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. The Isle St. Louis is charming and fun. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby and it is a five-ten minute walk to Notre Dame and a choice of metro stops.

We will certainly stay in this hotel (or it's sister down the street) again!

We always stay on Ile St Louis and just love the Lutece. The location is terrific and romantic. Front desk is very helpful, great bakery directly across the street, little grocery next door, many fine restaurants and sights nearby. Don't forget the Berthillon sorbets!

We stayed in a triple room. Although we were on the inside and did not have any type of view, the room was quite spacious by European standards. Beds were comfortable. It had a nice size bathroom with a great shower. The staff was very helpful. It was just a short walk (2 blocks) to Notre Dame and with the windows open you could hear the bells chiming. If you cross the bridge into St. Germain you will find a wonderful area full of cute little shops and lots of restaurants. We especially enjoyed the street Rue de Hutchette, it was full of restaurants many of them served greek food. Good food and inexpensive. There is a stop for the Batobus by Notre Dame and you can also board the Double decker sightseeing buses at Notre Dame. We also stayed at another hotel on our return to Paris and wished we had stayed at the Hotel de Lutece again. We really enjoyed our stay in Paris.

We just returned from staying at Hotel Lutece for 3 nights and it was, by far, the best part of our trip. It all began with our correspondence before the trip even began. I booked a room at their sister hotel Deux Iles back in February, seven months before our trip. One week before we left, we found out my husband's boss was (of all places) also planning to stay there at that time. After frantically searching for another place to stay with no luck, I e-mailed the staff and told them about the situation. They were extremely helpful and moved us to Lutece.

The Ile Saint Louis is a great home base with easy access to the right or left bank and close to most major tourist attractions. The main street is lined with quaint little shops (one next door with pasteries that we HIGHLY recommend), and is very quiet at night. We stayed in room 114 which has a ceiling height (12'-0" or so) window to the inner courtyard. Although it was close to the elevator and stairs, we had two doors to the room. The one off the hallway led to a small entry area with a large closet (for Europe standards) and then the second door led to the bedroom. I am a very light sleeper and I had no trouble at all. Our double consisted of two twins, but this was not a problem for us. The bathroom was recently renovated, very spacious and clean. A/C worked great and the TV got several English channels including CNN.

The front desk staff was great. We arrived several hours early for check-in and they whisked us up to our room immediately. Throughout our stay, they were friendly and welcoming, and able to answer any questions we had about the area.

We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Paris!

I have just returned from a two-night stay at the Hotel Lutece on the Ile St Louis and can happily say that it was a great choice - I had done loads of research before booking - looking for a romantic hotel in a good location and it fulfilled everything I was looking for. Ok granted it didn't have bathrobes and room service but there was air conditioning and a truly special attic room - ask for one of the two rooms on the 6th floor for more light and a more romantic feel.

The front desk booked restaurants for us and were really friendly - not intimidating at all and the area was full of great food shops and restaurants and two minutes away from notre dame and the latin quarter and the plage.

Very nice hotel, typically sized rooms, with a very nice remodeled bathroom. They apparently just remodeled a number of rooms ... this one was a good size for paris. The only negative was our room was right on the street, which was quaint and romantic at 2 in the afternoon, but less so at 2 in the morning when we could hear lots of noise from the street below. Ile Saint Louis is a good location in the middle of everything -- quaint street with a wonderful fromagerie and boulangerie right across the street from the hotel, and a great little market right next door. A bit removed from the Metro lines, but other than that a wonderful place to start our first trip to Paris. Staff was helpful and friendly ... and a breath of fresh air after our ill fated arrival at the deux iles down the street (see my review of that one if you're curious about the episode)

Chose Hotel de Lutece after reading lots of info on the different areas in Paris, and lots of hotel reviews. It sounded ideal for my post-engagement present to my girlfriend - and indeed it was; it lived up to all the positive reviews. The island is great - quiet and romantic, away from the more hectic Marais or Saint-Germain but close enough for easy access, and with lovely quays and views all around. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the room (111)was great - a view of the street, immaculate newly referbished bathroom with good shower and bath, beamed ceiling and tasteful decoration.
The rooms are not huge, but I think that's pretty normal for Paris, especially in a building of this age. The only problem was some loud-ish music from some kids across the road on the 2nd night, which was a bit annoying, but I think it was something of an exception on a normally very peaceful street. It stopped by 1am, and was quite successfully masked by shutting our window anyway.
The new prices (207 euros per night including breakfast for two) would perhaps seem expensive for what you get in any other location - but the Ile Saint Louis is renound for being exclusive and pricey, and is so nice, I think it's worth it.
