“Met Our Needs and Our Expectations”
Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I selected de Lutece because of its location and proximity to the places we wanted to visit. Stayed seven nights in April 2013. We had stayed previously at its companion hotel Henri IV again because of the range of places we wanted to visit. Sure, the rooms are small. But we were not there to 'swing a cat' as the saying goes. Besides when you are in Paris, you aren't going to spend any more waking moments in the room than you need to. As far as space, the bathroom was probably a mite larger than our bedroom but who cares, this is Paris. The staff in both hotels are articulate, friendly, helpful and the housekeeping did their job well. The linen crisp the pillows just right. WiFi worked. Lift worked. Breakfast was available but when you have numerous cafes nearby, no offence meant to the hotel, we believe it is best to get out and try a new one every morning and evening.

Booked for a long weekend to celebrate my daughters birthday. Just the two of us so booked a twin room. I know the rooms in Paris can be small but this was not a superior twin and was not as featured in the photographs on the website. I would describe it as a small double. The two beds were right next to each other and the only difference between them and a 'ziplink' double was lack of zip and two sheets instead of one! I could not have shared this room with anyone but a close family member. I wonder if they allocated this room to us as I had indicated on my booking that we were mother and daughter, feeling perhaps they could get away with it. I would have complained at the time but I did not want to create a bad atmosphere on our arrival and spoil my daughters special occasion and felt that if this was the room allocated they must believe it is a twin, and probably couldn't offer anything else! We did have a street view and a bath, which may give it the 'superior' title, but I don't think you can sell a room as a twin if you can't even fit a small bedside table between the beds, we could not have slid a magazine between them! Having said that the location is great, if the street very noisy, especially early in the morning and the staff were very polite and welcoming. I know they could not have configured the beds any other way due to the shape of the room, but just call it a double, thats what it is.

Loved this Hotel!! I've stayed in many hotels in Paris and all over Europe and Hotel de Lutece is my absolute favorite. We stayed for one week and didn't want to leave.

As others have said, the location is the best in all of Paris. You are literally in the heart of Paris making it easy to walk to so many places w/o needing to take the Metro, bus or taxi. Ile St. Louis is like a little village unto itself, surrounded by the Seine river with amazing views. Ile St. Louis is very quiet and residential from the center going to the eastern tip with an elementary school, a church and a lovely park at the eastern tip. The center to the western tip has a post office, a great bakery on the corner by the Pont Marie bridge, pharmacies, fun stores, wonderful restaurants, cafes, creperies, Berthillon ice cream, Amorino ice cream, a good grocery store and a wonderful produce store that sells the best fresh squeezed OJ we've ever had (and we're from California).

Our room at Hotel de Lutece was wonderful. Really lovely decor and spacious as Paris hotels go. The bathroom was large and very nice. Beds were very comfortable. Everything was very clean which is important to me. Our room had a fridge which was great. I really appreciated how they used the space to provide lots of areas to put things... shelves, counters, closets and cabinets. Very cleverly designed.

The lobby is heavenly and the staff were all very nice. I recommend this hotel all the time to everyone. Love Hotel de Lutece.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the quieter the room.

Great hotel in the heart of the city. The island, although obviously a tourist destination, remains quaint and is a great launchpad for easily getting anywhere in the city. The Marais, St. Germaine, Notre Dame, and even the Louvre are all an easy walk away. The place isn't cheap, but then no hotel in this area will be. If you're looking for budget accommodation, look elsewhere. The staff was courteous and attentive and gladly made us dinner reservations and booked an airport shuttle (which is much cheaper than a taxi; ask the person working the desk). The room was spacious for Parisian standards (on the small side compared to most American hotels). The room was long and narrow - the side of the bed was against the wall (which didn't bother me), then a large desk/changing area, and a separate bathroom. We looked out over a quiet balcony. Our room was also set off from the hotel hallway but a short closed off hallway/vestibule thing, which gave us some nice extra storage space and insulated us from any noise there might have been in the hallway.

Nice hotel with attentive service. However, it is definitely not worth the price. For 200 euros per night you can certainly find better options nearby. The wifi did not work properly on any of the 3 days we were there - apparently the server was down all the time and they couldn't do anything about it. Bathroom was very clean but they left a used shower gel from some previous occupant. Other than that, you will just be paying for the location which is excellent. Not worth the money.Only giving it 3 stars because of the location.

Room Tip: Try a Berthillon ice cream from any of the restaurants near the hotel.

We were lucky to find a room in Hotel de Lutece after getting locked out of the apartment we had rented nearby and being unable to reach anyone at the "emergency" number. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat because of the pleasant hotel and the perfect location. The hotel staff welcomed us sympathetically and escorted us to a lovely small room on the top floor with roof top views of Paris and a blissfully comfortable bed. For an additional 25 euros, we could have had a more spacious room, but we found our cozy quarters perfect for the night. The nicely presented buffet breakfast (13 euros pp) was tempting, but we passed it up in favor of an early morning walk and coffee in a sidewalk cafe while waiting for St. Chapelle to open. Our luggage was waiting when we returned to collect it and make our way to Gare d' l Est on the convenient #47 bus to catch our train to Colmar. As others have noted, this is a perfect location for atmosphere and proximity to major Paris sights.

Room Tip: The smaller rooms with a shower but no tub are a good value for the location. They may also be a bit...

We stayed in this hotel just one night in March, and feel that its best feature is its remarkable location right smack in the middle of Ile St Louis, just a few hundred yards away from the parvis of Notre Dame. The folks at the front desk were helpful and friendly, and the reception area itself was comfortable, displaying some of the character expected from a building in an old part of the city. In contrast our room was small and with little cachet. The furniture was contemporary / non-descript, with little room around the bed to move around. The bathroom was well-appointed, but incredibly small, and the shower itself was dark and cramped. All in all this hotel feels to us like a decent pied-a-terre in a great location in the middle of Paris, but the room itself was just average.
