I took my friend to Paris for her first time, so we splurged on this little hotel on the Ile St. Louis right in the middle of Paris! The view down the little avenue from our 5th floor window was "ooh-la-la so Parisien!", the staff always welcoming, the lobby adorable, (with its ancient stone fireplace and sitting area). The bathroom was huge and modern, and the two bed room accomodated us just perfectly, for three memorable days in Paris!

From the moment we arrived, the Hotel de Lutece surpassed expectations. Our room was ready when we arrived (an unexpected benefit). We were in room 651, which is one of the rooms pictured in the brochure. It had a warm, cozy feel and was quiet - an oasis away from the hubub of Paris. It was surprisingly spacious for a city hotel. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. And, of course, the location can't be beat.

Heart of Paris. Walk to excellent restaurants. Metro short walk. Easy walk to Latin Quarter (most interesting). easy metro trips to all the sites but quickly back to friendly atmosphere. When you tire of the grandiose, relax near the river. It is a special habitat. Hotel clean. Beds excellent. Staff quick, courteous. Would return.

Stayed here for 5 nts the second week of March. We felt the room was nice, although not large it was by no means the smallest hotel room we've had in Paris. The bathroom was very nice sized, and had a tub and shower. Although I do not understand why the shower door only extended about 1/2 the length of the tub.

The exposed wooden roof beams and high ceilings gave the room a sense of being larger, and there was plenty of closet and storage space for all our luggage. The large windows that opened up to the street were nice.

The bed was a bit firm. The heat worked quiet well too.

There was a bit of noise that came through in the morning from the street but we only heard a bit of room noise from our neighbor just on one morning. Otherwise it was very quiet. There was also some work being done on the building across the street but they didn't start until after 8AM and it was never an issue as we were out and about during the day.

The staff was very friendly. Booked us a restaurant reservation and a taxi and helped with our luggage.

We had the breakfast for 13 Euros one day. Small breakfast nook with 3 tables. The breakfast was more than adequate with tea/coffee/hot chocolate/OJ. A small baguette, croissant, ham, hard boiled egg, anad yoghurt were served.

Some folks complain about the price for this 3 star hotel but if you know the price up front, and know that the location is truly very good, then I'm not sure why this should be brought up as a negative.

I would not hesitate to stay here again the next time in Paris.

I almost always stay on the I'Le St. Louis when I am in Paris because you can get anywhere from there and because there are wonderful restaurants on the island--so convenient when you are dragging yourself home at 8:30pm after a day of sight-seeing/shopping. I have stayed at the Hotel S. Louis and I like it very much, but it was booked for this trip, so based on Rick Steve's recommendation on the Travel Channel, I made the reservation for Hotel de Lutece. It was lovely--like staying with friends in Paris. We stayed in the top floor room in the front (Room 661--room in first photo). The ambience was wonderful (beamed ceilings, two large windows, large bathroom, large bed, large closet), it was quiet, and the breakfast each day (which was brought to our room) was delicious. This is a charming, reasonably-priced (remember, this IS Paris), wonderful hotel with a tremendous staff and free wi-fi. We will absolutely stay there again!

A 3star hotel in a fabulous location. The rooms are small and the decor could do with an overhaul but this is Paris and it is 3star. We booked a triple room which gave 2of us more space and it was perfectly comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Surprisingly the fire in the lobby was never lit which would have added greatly to the charm- if it isn't lit in January when the maximum temperature was 3C I'm not sure when it is! The location is wonderful and the local area has good shops, bars and restaurants as well as the headline attractions.
