I cannot recommend the Hotel Des Grands Hommes highly enough. From arrival to check out, the staff were helpful, friendly and informative. The hotel is nicely decorated and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff, who do their utmost to help in any situation. The hotel front is right outside the Pantheon square, 5 minutes walk from Luxembourg RER station. It's a fantastic location for the Latin Quarter, Notre Dame, River Seine, Luxembourg Gardens etc. The room itself was clean and nicely decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom and shower were ideal for our needs. For the price, I truly believed that I had a bargain for 3 nights and I would have no hesitation in coming back to this charming hotel and wonderful staff.

In the past we had stayed in the large rooms looking over the Pantheon. This time we book a cheaper small back room, which was nice and quiet but so small that our two roll-on suitcases had to live under the desk and in the way of the entrance door. If you travel heavy, do not go for these rooms. The bed was strangely made and would come apart every night with the mattress cover bundling under us. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. The bathrooms are nice. The neighborhood is lively with students but very safe and much cleaner than the Bastille area.

Room Tip: If you need space and view ask for a room in the front. If you want to save some money and do not ne...

A wonderful finale to our six month stay in Europe. The staff at Hotel des Grands Hommes are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, while the decor is tasteful and very French! The rooms are standard Paris size (small) which is why we opted for a suite (Paris in August is very affordable - don't let the snobs put you off by suggesting it isn't 'fashionable'. The streets are quieter, the roads clear, the prices good - and Paris is always Paris!) We enjoyed breakfast on our terrace (no extra cost for service there) each day (omelettes, pastries, the usual French fare ) overlooking the Pantheon and across to the Sacre Coeur. Close to the RER, and walking distance Notre Dame etc - but explore the Luxembourg Gardens, the Sorbonne, the back street student cafes (free massages when I was there!) What's not to like!!

Room Tip: Splurge on a suite with a terrace.

We went as a couple to Paris. The Hotel des Grands Hommes made it the perfect place for a romantic stay in Paris.

When we arrived, the receptionist was very friendly & made us feel home directly. The staff was always very friendly & helpful during our whole stay.
The rooms were very nicely decorated. Never have I seen such a romantic decoration: the colors, the use of wood, the decoration of the walls & bed. All the places & rooms in the hotel were very clean. The rooms are quite & there is little noise. We had a double superior room with view on the Pantheon. I would highly recommend this type of room. It has a gorgeous view on the Pantheon & is not too small (for Paris standards).

We had twice breakfast in the bedroom (no extra charge for room service). Although it was uncomfortable to use the desk as a table, it was great to have breakfast with view on the Pantheon. Another option was to have breakfast in the basement, though clean & charming decorated, there is no view at all.

The Hotel des Grands Hommes is very conveniently located in the center of Paris near the Latin Quarter. Almost all big tourist attractions are within walking distance. However, it also allows you to visit little non-touristic places, like 'Place de la Sorbonne'.
If the weather is good & you need a relaxing break, I would recommend a picnic in the beautiful Parc du Luxembourg, which is 5-10min walking.

The Hotel has no parking facilities as far as I am aware. However there was parking space in front of the Hotel. Normally you need to pay, except in the weekends & August.

We had a great stay in Hotel des Grands Hommes & we will definitively return there if we are in Paris again!

Room Tip: Although more expensive, I would recommend a room with view on the Pantheon, preferably on 4 or high...

Our family (my wife, mother, and two teen-age daughters) spent five nights in two rooms (triple and double - rooms 30 and 32) at Hotel des Grands Hommes in late July, 2012. We greatly enjoyed the location of the hotel - close to the Luxembourg Gardens and the Latin Quarter, and an easy Metro ride to any location in Paris. We opted for the balcony rooms overlooking the Pantheon (well worth the extra expense). Although the rooms are small, looking over the Pantheon made the rooms feel more open and spacious.

The front desk staff assistants were unfailingly helpful and polite. We obtained good recommendations for restaurants in the vicinity; and every time we asked for directions to another part of Paris, the staff member would take time to find out the best way to travel to the site (and print out the corresponding map from the internet).

It was a pleasure to stay at Hotel des Grands Hommes! We hope to return to Paris in the future, and we would definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: We liked our rooms - 30 and 32. Small but well decorated.

The location is fantastic: just a few hundred metres from the RER B train from the airport (the Luxembourg stop) and a short walk from the Latin Quarter and Notre Dame. We had a room with a view of the Pantheon, which was lovely. The room wasn't as tiny as I had feared in Paris, although we were upgraded to the superior double, so perhaps these are larger than the regular doubles. The bathroom was lovely. The desk staff friendly and helpful. We were very happy.

Room Tip: The "superior doubles" have a view of the Pantheon and a balcony which is very nice. The b...

Hotel des Grands Hommes's classy location just in front of the Pantheon, where great men lie, is nicely complemented by its neat stone facade and small but elegant lobby, decorated in old woods, large mirrors and statues of the said great men.

This part of the 5th arrondissement is Paris' traditional university district, my favorite area in the city, where each stone is full of history. It offers a very attractive array of specialty shops and eateries, and exudes a sophisticated atmosphere while a lot more laid back than the neighboring, richer 6th. Be aware though that, by Paris standards, it is relatively poorly served by public transport: the nearest train stations are RER and metro line 10, which are less convenient for tourists than other lines; only one bus line passes by; and the walk back to the hotel is uphill. This makes Hotel des Grands Hommes perfect for those who like to wander around, but less so as a base to cover the other areas of Paris.

We experienced impeccable service on check-in, check-out and during our stay.

Our twin room was graced with a nice view of the Pantheon, but tiny. Small beds, a touch tired, with clean but very average quality beddings, not overly comfortable; little storage space, an old and small TV; a standard Paris bathroom with no separate shower and no curtain around the bathtub; good soundproofing; altogether not an invitation to indulge, which I guess should not be a problem for tourists who will spend most of their time out of the hotel.

Like many other clients, you took time to review our hotel on TripAdvisor and we would like to thank you to let us have the opportunity to answer you and assure our future guests of our great quality and our great concern to their satisfaction.

We would like to sincerely thank you for nice comments about our impeccable service !

Concerning some points, we need to clarify some of it.
The RER B, 2mn walking distance from our hotel, is the perfect line non only to have direct access to CDGaulle and Orly aiports, but also to the right bank of the city. The line 10 mentionned, also 2mn walking distance gives access to the main attractions of the left bank (eiffel tower, Orsay Museum, ...). Pantheon place, front of the hotel, is the way of 3 differents bus (27,89, 84) which give our guests opportunity to discover our beautiful city.
Since receiving negative comments about our mattresses around eight months ago, the hotel owner decided to invest and change all of them. It is impossible that our mattresses are sagging, as they are brand new! (maybe that’s why people usually mention the quality of our beds).
Finally, our bathtub are equiped with a shower head which permits to benefit a real shower.
We hope we will have another opportunity to welcome you in Paris and make your stay magical
I stay personally at your entire disposal for further information
Best regards
Pierre-Louis, Assistant Manager
