A superb Hotel full of character. You can not ask for a better position in Paris. The breakfast is good and my family and I found the staff very helpful. I found the Hotel clean and well kept. The showers and bathrooms were good. After we checked out on our last day we left our luggage at the Hotel with no problems.

Excellent with regard to cost, certainly, I doubt Hotel Du Lys could be beaten for charm, location, and general "feel". Six of us stayed there for three nights, and nobody had even a small complaint to make. Rooms are small (like most hotels in Paris), but the hotel has beautifully restored timber and exposed beams thoughout, along with numerous period features. Stairs are twisty and steep, breakfast is simple (but fits perfectly with the character of the place), service is helpful yet unobtrusive. And location is superb....I honestly cannot understand some of the reviews! But I fully go along with many others! Definite recommendation.

I was looking for an inexpensive very Parisian hotel in the center of Paris. This hotel filled all those requirements. If you want a clean charming room without very many frills this is it! For three nights we only had one set of towels, but we made due. The breakfast was fresh, sparse, and quick. It served our purpose. The location was excellent, easy walk to many of the sites. The metro stop was very close by. A bit noisy at night.

The rooms were charming (we had our whole family, so 4 different rooms - all great). top floor room (with lots of steps up a circular stair) included a wonderful, useable balcony. Nice bath and shower. Awesome location - close to EVERYTHING (less than 10 min walk to Notre Dame, 5 min to restaurants) but on a very quiet street. Not especially helpful staff but no problems. Good french bread, croissants, hot choc etc for breakfast.

I spent 2 nights in a Sofitel in Paris before switching to Hotel Du Lys for a third night, and frankly, except for the modern furnishings and uniformed staff, I don't see why the average night in Sofitel cost 200 Euros more.

On top of that, Hotel Du Lys is located a stone's throw away from Notre Dame, close to tons of bars and restaurants in the Latin Quarter, and yet tucked away in a street so that you're away from the crowd if you are in need of a good rest.

Stayed in the room on the ground floor, but I wish I had one up the staircase (there are porters to help you carry your bags up). Still, the room was nice enough.

Rooms are around 110 Euros per night, not exactly cheap, but that's Paris prices.

Would definitely come back, and would recommend it.

I travel extensively for my job both in Europe and North Ameica and have experienced the joys of many and varied hotels. As for this hotel I was told we can expect a charming (rustic) hotel in a great location. Thats exactly what we got and I was not disappointed. The room was clean, the hotel was enchanting, and the breakfast was just fine. Its within easy walking distance of many attractions and the metro. I would recommend this hotel to the budget traveler looking for a pleasant stay and a little romance as well.

I've stayed in the du Lys several times over the last 9 years and have recommended it to others (twenty-something singles, honeymooners, and older adults) who also find it to be the best little place for the money in Paris! I was appalled to read a couple reviews which spoke of its being dirty, etc.; this I cannot believe. It is "high on charme, low on luxe", and the location is super. And the croissant you will get every morning is the freshiest and flakiest that you will find--way better than those you pay "top euro" for at the popular cafes.
