“Perfect Lunch place, right in with the locals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

We love this little café. Montorgueil is one of the cutest and most authentic streets in Paris; best place to go is on a Saturday morning where all the Parisians go from butcher to fishmonger to florist to get their week end supplies. It‘s really cute and very Paris. Lots of restaurants on the street and location is right next to les Halles, great area. Le café du centre is about midway up the street on a corner. The staff are extremely friendly (not always the case in Paris!), food is perfect for lunch, massive platters of French cheeses and cold meats, great “plat du jour” which are normally real French traditional dishes, we had a very good duck confit with roasted potatoes. This is not high end creative food, its wholesome, real food! Take your time, enjoy you meal, have some wine by the pichet and just be Parisian for one lunch. During the week, lost of offices workers come here to have their lunch, great atmosphere. Prices are descent and in keeping with the area

“Delicious Meal on Lovely Street”

We ate here our last night in Paris. The food was delicious. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. English menu available. I wish we had found it earlier - I will return!

“The best the area has to offer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2012

This place is so good that I've broken my own rule of eating somewhere different whenever we dine out in Paris.
Easily the busiest place on Rue Montorgueil arrive early if you'd like a seat outside. The menu on the street is only printed in French however once seated the staff do have english print menus available, and the selection of dishes is fantastic - everything from snacks like hamburgers and chicken wings, through to full meals like risotto, duck breast, pasta steaks etc.

They also offer a tempting selection of large plate salads; since moving to Paris I've become a bit of a goats cheese salad snob - a staple on almost every menu, Cafe du Centre has easily the best I've tried so far. Not filled with just lettuce, their salade chevre chaud is a great mix of lardon, tomato, dressed mixed leaves and three large crutons topped with warm goats cheese, as an extra flourish they also add a sliver of parma ham which sets the dish off beautifully.

The staff here generally are fairly friendly, they are busy almost constantly but service is efficent and certainly not rude as can sometimes be the case in Paris. Carafes of water and baskets of bread are offered as standard and filled as required.

I had lunch here with a friend today and she ordered the risotto mentioned above afterwards she commented that it was one of the best she has tasted.

Another bonus, the toilets are clean & modern with soap hot water and working hand dryers - if you've been to Paris before you'll appreciate how rare this is the case.

I don't give an excellent rating often, but this place is hard to fault - highly recommended.

“Jam packed restaurant on Montorgueil”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2012

What a great find. We were walking along Montorguiel, north of Les Halle's and among all the fruit, veggie and flower markets were many places to eat, but the most popular was Cafe DuCentre. Jam packed, mostly with French diners with a fun and limited menu with very exiting matches of ingredients. We had a great time, had wonderful food and we really enjoyed the ambience!

“Excellent time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2011

We were going to this area to go to a little restaurant called frenchie, but it was closed so walked along and spotted this cafe. it looked busy and the waiters were friendly so we sat down outside. Firstly the atmosphere is great, right on the pedestrianised street. I had Fois gras for the first time and it was Amazing. I cant compare it to any other ive had but it was blooming marvelous. if you like pate and chutney this is a must. I then had the T bone steak with Marrow Bone (also a first) lovely thin fries and roquefort sauce. it was great. all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our food and im surpised there are not many reviews on her for it. if you get a chance...go. YUMMY
