We chose to visit at night in order to avoid the heat, and lines with the daytime crowds. What we got was a stunning view of the city of lights at night. Worth a trip up the stairs, it also offers an excellent view of the lit up Eiffel Tower, and the gift shop had several very nice souvenirs.

Which one is the oldest between the Arc de Triomphe and the this one on the Place de Carrousel? Well, I don't read the history but among the Arcs, this Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is the most beautiful among them.

The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel was built between 1806 and 1808 to celebrate the Napoleonic victories of 1805. It was originally intended as a monumental entrance to the Tuileries palace but when the palace was destroyed by fire in 1871 it became the second monument to be aligned with the Historical Axis.
Located just across Place du Carrousel from the Louvre, the monument is often overlooked due to the "star power" of the museum.

A grand but smaller version of the famous Arc, on the same perspective, at the other end of the Champs, at the Tuileries and Louvre.
