We are not French speakers, and it made no difference. The menu was explained and all our questions were dealt with thoroughly. The staff was very courteous and attentive when required. Oh yes, the food was superb, the menu varied, and included a good selection of wines by the glass so that we could match and explore. We stayed in the neighborhood, and this is a gem to be able to walk to.

Just returned from a delicious dinner for four at this quaint, neighborhood bistro. We were the only non-French there. The staff brought out an English translation dictionary to help us non French speakers understand the menu. They were very helpful. We had an appetizer of mousse-like creamy eggs with toast, our friends had arugula salad with shaved Parmesan. My main course was monkfish in a creamy basil sauce, my husband had cote de boeuf, our friends had chicken stuffed with morel mushrooms, and fish in a mild curry sauce. Side dishes were haricote vert, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese, all cooked to perfection. We were all very happy and agreed that it was our best meal in Paris. We all shared a half bottle of vouvray. Dinner was about 75 euro per couple. We will return!

Our foodie friend recommended Bistro Brigitte so we made sure we were in the area after I went shopping looking for truffle oil in the Madeline area.

We were a walk in (no reservation) and were seated very easily next to some french businessmen and some other tables of two all frenchies no tourists in sight!!!!

There was a choice of a la carte or set menu scribbled on black boards. We had a dinner planned in the evening so we didn't want to over do it.

I ordered off the set menu, the pan-fried canette (a sort of small duck) with sauce foie gras and a side of macaroni gratin woof bang!!! The misses had the pan-fried veal liver and herb butter with a side of creamy buttery mash. The canette was very mild and perfectly cooked pink, the skin was thin and crisp and the foie gras sauce didn't really do much for the canette but tasted nice. The macaroni gratin had a nice crispy and cheesy top with enough sauce and a gentle taste of nutmeg. The liver was also perfectly cooked and the mash was super creamy lip smacking left ventrical slap shutting good.

I had another excellent large glass of cote du rhone and some very tasty mineral water called Chateldon. All in 69 Euros for including coffees. Service was very professional and polite. The bistro is very cute and very french it made me feel we should have come here instead of going to bistro paul bert.

If your looking for a propa french bistro experience without the tourists book bistro brigitte.
