My wife and I were basically kicked out from this place.

We are travelling all around Europe, and on our first night in Paris we had delightful macaroons at "Ladurée", so later on we didn't want to have a full meal, and we came across this non elegant place, we thought it would be cheap for some food. We asked if we could share a menu, and the guy took the menu off of our hands and told us "if you want cheap food, you go to Mcdonalds", pointing us out.

I understand that each place has rules, but being treated like that, was a huge mistake. We enjoy good food, so we know that this could happen, but there are several better ways to solve this issue.

If you are looking for elegance, sophistication and a thoughtfully put together menu, then I wouldn't suggest going here. If you are, on the other hand, after a hearty meal with a lively atmosphere and waiting staff that can't do enough for you, then this is the place for you- particularly if you're keen to spend no more than 35 euros a head. We ordered as fondue and a raclette and both were outstandingly tasty. There cornichons were never ending, the wine perfectly palatable and whilst the surly chap on the door who was charged with enticing in hungry punters from the streets was a bit on the miserable side, we had an Algerian waiter who spoke 5 languages and charmed the socks off us. I would recommend going there to anyone in the mood for melted cheese!

OK, I think it's hard to find bad bread and mediocre food in Paris, but that's what we had at Demi Lune.
Maybe our group was drawn in by the street menu and the recruiter outside?
Seriously - everywhere in Paris you turn you find delicious crusty bread. The bread here was tasteless, dry and must have been stored in a plastic bag because the crust was limp and soft.
Even though they show a Raclette with a wheel of cheese and a traditional brass table top melter, we got 4 slices of cheese (edges were dried out) and some sterno contraption that heated up the cheese a slice at a time. That's not what we expected based on the big street sign showing something much more impressive. Also - I ordered the Grison Raclette, which our waiter told me was cold beef slices. It was dried out dried beef slices that were hard and chewey.
Foie gras - 3 of us had that... also very disappointing. In a town of great Foie gras you expect something better than this. The bread looked like sliced wonder bread dried out as toast and it just looked like a slice of bologna and tasted bland and rather tasteless. Fortunately there was a little fig (?) jam that gave it some flavor.
One person did enjoy their duck L'orange. Another enjoyed the pureed vegetable soup.
The Beaujolais was good,
Seriously - you are surrounded by many great choices all around you. I think you can do much better than Demi Lune. Pick another place and don't be tempted by their street menu and cheaper pricing.

Pros:
1. good food (pate de campagne, shrimp pasta) with one exception: the Cordon Bleu - frozen and fried, not prepared on the spot
2. friendly atmosphere on the first floor
3. fair price (10, 16 and 24 euro menus)
4. decent service, rather fast
5. location - Latin Quarter

Cons:
1. awful rose wine (better choose red wine instead), not worth 5 euro/glass
2. a single toilet for the entire restaurant

Ask for a carafe of water if you don't want to spend a lot of money on bottled water!
