It's an enchanting walk, visit the chocolate shops! there are houses where famous people lived. It's very quiet and relaxing.

This is one of those reviews you write hoping nobody will read it. Because I love this place without all you review readers tripping all over me there!

It's tiny, its Paris, it is surrounded by a walkway right off the Seine. It is connected by bridges to the place where Paris was born and where Notre Dame has been for 850 years. Good restaurants, determined to keep its 17'th Century character, and of course, Berthillon.

Walk there, take a metro to the Pont Marie station, get off the Batobus across the river, but go there -- only after you have had a chance to visit the Marais, Champs Elysees, etc. -- you'll get it. No dodging taxi's, no honking horns or buses determined to brush you back to the curb -- in fact, most of the time people just walk in the middle of the narrow street that bisects it lengthwise because you can see the vehicles coming and step to the curb.

Calm and sophisticated as it looks, it rocks and rolls until all hours. Not in the clubs (there aren't any) or restaurants (they close at human hours), but on the streets and around the edges. There's always some little musical group set up on the Pont Saint Louis that connects the place to the Ile de Cite. And (I really shouldn't be telling you this) one day a year, EVERY street corner has music. Actually it is true all over the City of Lights, but there it is up close and personal.

It is our favorite spot in an amazing city. But I'll cut you guys a deal -- you can saunter over there any time you want ... but get lost when I can again afford to return. On the other hand, come on over -- a big part of the vibrancy of the place is the polygot sounds of lots of people, in lots of languages, saying "So this is Paris!"

Pun intended. Go to the original Berthillon not one of the many stands offering Berhillon, the quality and freshness are wonderful. Depending on the season, the ice creams and sorbets are all wonderful. I honestly don't do much else when I am here. But we did get a three d portrait of our son, in plexiglass that was kind of cool.

Quintessinal Paris, with fascinating shops, street musicians, and some of the best ice cream in the world!

After visiting Notre Dame, we walked across the bridge to this island. More quiet than many parts of Paris and dense with interesting shops (chocolate, boulangeries - bakeries, vegetable shops) and handsome buildings, and of course exquisite views of the Seine and boat traffic. I only regret we didn't spend more time there!
